Job description
Our client is looking for a Linux Systems Administrator to provide systems administration related to data center management, server hardware, server operating systems, server applications installations and configurations, network infrastructure, computing resources in a complex environment comprising of Linux (Ubuntu) Servers and VMware virtualization platform, across multiple buildings and business units.
This role is responsible for administering systems infrastructure, core server applications, and networking and securities., * Working knowledge of the Microsoft Windows Operating System family, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery and client support.
- Provide Linux and Windows servers and VMware system administration support for the major hardware and software platforms. This includes such activities as systems and server applications installation and configurations; managing account provisioning systems, software distribution, backup, and systems monitoring; identifying and fixing bugs, security holes, and problems with systems software. Respond to software, hardware and network emergencies as required.
- Provide backup support for mission-critical systems housed in the data centers, including installations and decommissions of servers and network hardware in the data centers.
- Provide support for integrated user authentication, file access, printing, database solutions, calendaring, and other server systems between different platforms. Requirements
***Candidate must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship due to client requirements. No Third Party Candidates., 1- 3+ years of Linux Systems administration experience with Ubuntu. Experience with patching, maintenance of on prem and virtual servers.
2- Automation experience with Ansible. Other automation tools acceptable.
3- Job Scheduling like Slurm is a major nice to have., * 3-5 years additional experience with Linux operating systems and system management techniques in a complex technical environment. Formal training beyond a four year program or degree desirable.
- Solid working knowledge of Linux (Ubuntu) server administration, including installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, backup, recovery, and client support.

This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr.
