Job description
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer 2 to support a high-performing Systems Engineering team within a fast-paced aerospace environment. This role will focus on leading cross-functional efforts, managing system baselines, and ensuring successful transition of integrated hardware and software systems into production., * Lead development of the technical baseline by capturing, analyzing, and finalizing functional and performance requirements; maintain full traceability using DOORS and ensure verifiability ahead of Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Develop system architectures (functional and physical), perform trade studies, and drive selection of optimal solutions to support system maturity and production readiness.
- Organize and lead internal design reviews; facilitate external CDR sessions with stakeholders, including customers and suppliers; document outcomes and drive action items to closure.
- Collaborate with integration and test teams on schedules; maintain Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and develop test verification matrices covering HIL and SIL scenarios.
- Lead verification activities, analyze test results, resolve discrepancies, and ensure closure of verification requirements in alignment with program milestones.
- Manage configuration baselines, enforce version control, and conduct impact analyses for changes throughout system verification and validation.
- Author and maintain key system documentation, including System Requirements Documents, ICDs, Design Descriptions, Test Plans, and Risk Registers; provide status reporting and executive-level updates.
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support cross-functional collaboration across mechanical, electrical, and software teams.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and lessons learned documentation.
Requirements
The ideal candidate brings strong systems engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, and a proven ability to drive design, verification, and validation activities through key program milestones., * Demonstrated experience in systems engineering, preferably within aerospace or defense environments.
- Proficiency with systems engineering tools such as DOORS, CAMEO, MATLAB, or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with experience working in cross-functional environments.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Ability to adapt and thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with inertial navigation systems or related technologies.
- Experience supporting key program milestones such as SRR, SFR, PDR, and CDR.
Benefits & conditions
Pay: $100.00 - $105.00 per hour
