Job description
SimVentions is 100% employee-owned and proudly ranked among Virginia's Best Places to Work year after year! We are looking for a driven Systems Engineer to join our team in supporting the AN/SLQ-32(V)7 Electronic Warfare Spectrum Operations (EWSO) program. This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between high-end Electronic Warfare (EW) capabilities and Integrated Combat Systems. The successful candidate will apply core systems engineering principles-including requirements maturation, system-of-systems integration, and lifecycle validation-to ensure the warfighter has a resilient and effective EW suite. You will work directly with government stakeholders to mature the (V)7 variant, moving from abstract mission needs into validated tactical scenarios and data-backed performance analysis. Travel: Up to 25%: Occasional travel to support off-site test events and approximately one T&E support event per month. Clearance, * Full Lifecycle Systems Engineering: Lead the technical analysis and integration of the AN/SLQ-32(V)7 variant into larger shipboard Combat Systems (e.g., Aegis), ensuring interoperability and mission success.
- Requirements Engineering: Drive the definition, decomposition, and traceability of system-level requirements. Translate high-level operational needs into detailed technical specifications for EW software and hardware components.
- Technical Stakeholder Management: Act as a technical subject matter expert during formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR), design sit-downs, and working groups, ensuring technical integrity across the program lifecycle.
- Modeling & Simulation (M&S): Develop complex test scenarios within tactical simulation environments (such as TACSIM) to model AN/SLQ-32(V)7 performance against representative threats.
- System Validation & Troubleshooting: Execute simulation runs, identify system anomalies, and perform root-cause analysis to resolve integration blockers between EW suites and combat management systems.
- Data-Driven Decision Support: Collect, reduce, and analyze tactical data from simulation and test events. Draft formal technical reports and briefs that translate raw data into actionable engineering recommendations.
- Verification & Validation (V&V): Support approximately one major Test & Evaluation (T&E) event per month, validating that system performance meets established benchmarks in tactically relevant environments.
Requirements
- United States Citizenship
- Active Secret Clearance (or above)
- Minimum 5+ years (Journeyman) of systems engineering experience. Candidates with significant experience in Electronic Warfare or Combat Systems may be considered for a Senior Engineer level.
- Demonstrated experience in requirements development, system design documentation, and the technical review process.
- Strong ability to analyze complex, multi-domain datasets and author formal, compliant technical reports, test plans, and executive briefs.
- Proven ability to develop system requirements and technical documentation.
- Experience with tactical simulators (e.g., TACSIM or similar) and the ability to design/run test scenarios.
- Strong capability to analyze complex datasets and translate them into formal, compliant test reports and briefs.
- Comfortable working 100% on-site in a government lab environment and participating in high-level technical meetings., * EW/Combat Systems: Direct experience with the AN/SLQ-32 family of systems or Aegis Weapon System integration.
- Specific Program Knowledge: Familiarity with Electronic Warfare (EW) mission areas and the SEWIP program.
- Self-Starter: Ability to troubleshoot simulation runs and technical issues independently with minimal guidance.
- Systems Integration: Experience with System-of-Systems (SoS) integration, specifically regarding sensor-to-shooter loops or electromagnetic spectrum operations.
- Testing Rigor: Experience defining "Success Criteria" and "Measures of Performance" (MOPs/MOEs) for complex, multi-domain system tests.
- Tools: Familiarity with requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS) or Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
Education: A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline. Compensation
