Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill a Linux System Administrator / Cyber Security Professional position within their high-technology defense systems team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to support engineering development programs by managing Linux systems, maintaining network infrastructure, and implementing cybersecurity solutions for mission-critical applications. The position is based in McLeansville, NC and is fully on-site., * Support engineering development and maintenance of programs.
- Perform Linux system administration, including installation, hardening, patching, and maintenance.
- Configure, install, and troubleshoot network equipment, primarily Cisco systems.
- Design and implement cybersecurity solutions aligned with DoD requirements.
- Conduct vulnerability and compliance scanning, analyze results, and perform remediation.
- Support network setup including servers, infrastructure equipment, and end-user devices.
- Participate in project planning, cost analysis, and vendor evaluations.
- Collaborate with teams while also independently managing tasks and priorities.
- Support domestic and international travel (up to 10%) for program needs.
Requirements
Education/Experience: Bachelor's Degree in a related field with 2+ years of relevant experience OR Master's Degree Schedule: First Shift
Clearance Requirement: Secret Clearance Obtainable (U.S. citizenship required), * Experience in Linux system administration for small to medium-sized networks.
- Strong understanding of Linux hardening, vulnerability scanning, and security patching.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks such as RMF and STIGs.
- Knowledge of network architecture, LAN configurations, routers, and NICs.
- Hands-on experience with Cisco networking equipment.
- Ability to set up and maintain complete network environments.
- Strong documentation and technical writing skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work independently and in team environments.
Preferred:
- Certifications such as RHCSA, Network+, Security+, CISSP, CCNP, Server+, or Linux+.
- Experience with DoD cybersecurity standards and systems.
