Job description

At Red Hat, we believe the future of AI is open source. The Red Hat Artificial Intelligence Business Unit (AI BU) is seeking to hire a Developer Advocate to help grow awareness of Red Hat AI and open source projects that complement our platform. The expected experience level is someone who has a degree in computer science, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

In this role, you will create engaging technical content, demos, and workshops that help developers understand, build, and deploy AI workloads on Red Hat's platforms and related open source projects. You'll represent Red Hat at global conferences, meetups, and open source events globally, while building a strong personal brand that resonates with the AI developer community. You'll receive mentorship from senior technical marketers, developer advocates, and product engineers to help accelerate your technical and professional growth.

The ideal candidate is a strong technical communicator with an understanding of the full AI stack-from GPUs and clusters to model fine-tuning and inference-and a passion for empowering developers through education and storytelling.

What You Will Do

  • Create and deliver high-quality technical content (demos, blogs, videos, notebooks, workshops, talks) centered on open source AI technologies
  • Travel globally ~50% of the year to speak at conferences, conduct workshops, and support Red Hat's AI presence at events
  • Engage with developer communities to identify trends, gather feedback, and promote Red Hat AI solutions and related open source projects
  • Build and maintain technical demos that showcase Red Hat's capabilities across an open source AI stack-including hardware, orchestration, and software layers
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, product management, and marketing teams to translate developer needs into roadmap insights and compelling narratives that drive adoption
  • Establish and grow your personal developer brand through consistent content creation, social media engagement, and event participation
  • Represent Red Hat's open, scalable approach to AI with an understanding of model tuning, RAG, inference, and orchestration across GPU-based environments

Requirements

  • Strong technical background in web application development (Python, JavaScript or similar)
  • Understanding of open source development principles and communities
  • Familiarity with the AI technology stack, including model training, inference, orchestration (Kubernetes/OpenShift), and GPU utilization
  • Hands-on experience with a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Mac OS, and Windows
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills; comfortable speaking on stage or on camera
  • Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible, engaging content
  • Ability to work in a persuasion-driven, cross-functional environment with globally distributed teams
  • Self-motivated and organized, capable of meeting deadlines and handling multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

The following will be considered a plus:

  • Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker/Podman, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
  • Knowledge of vLLM, llama.cpp, SGlang, or other open-source inference engines, as well as concepts such as Retrieval Augmented Generation, Agentic AI, etc.
  • Established presence in developer communities (GitHub, LinkedIn, X, YouTube, etc.)
  • Ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Open source contributor or maintainer experience is a plus
