Job description
Under the general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services, the Student Data Systems Administrator is responsible for the effective administration of the district's Student Information System (SIS) and for supporting districtwide data accuracy, reporting, user workflows, and training. The role collaborates closely with Technology, HR, Finance, and school administrators to support data exchanges, maintain integrations, and promote efficient district operations. Primary responsibility centers on SIS; secondary responsibilities include support for HR/Finance data systems and other integrated applications., + Oversee daily operations, configuration, and maintenance of the information systems.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and workflow settings.
- Support schoollevel processes.
- Assist with system updates, feature rollouts, and yearly rollover
- Data Quality, Auditing,Compliance
- Support schools and central office teams with data accuracy and troubleshooting.
- Conduct data validation checks to ensure accurate submissions for Tennessee state reporting.
- Coordinate with district leaders to maintain consistent data practices across schools.
- Data IntegrationTechnology Department Collaboration
- Collaborate with the Technology Department for technical assistance in maintaining integrations between informational systems and thirdparty systems (assessment platforms, LMS, transportation, food services, etc.).
- Collaborate with the Technology Department for technical assistance with API connections and automated data exchanges to ensure seamless syncing between the SIS and external platforms.
- Assist in evaluating, implementing, and testing new SIS modules or related applications.
- Pilot Testing: Conduct "dry run" migrations or API tests in a sandbox environment to identify errors before a full-scale rollout.
- User Support, TrainingDocumentation
- Provide timely support to end users, including user inquiries, troubleshoot issues, and escalate technical concerns when necessary.
- Coordinate, develop, and deliver training and ongoing support to school and Central Office staff on information system workflows, reporting tools, and data entry best practices.
- Create and maintain user guides, standard operating procedures, reference documents, and training materials.
- Cross-Functional Support: Serve as a versatile technical partner for all staff, providing patient, high-level support for teachers, classified staff, school secretaries, and district administrators alike.
- Project CoordinationProcess Improvement
- Coordinate timelines, communication, and required tasks for datarelated projects, system rollovers, and student registration.
- Participate in crossdepartment work groups to improve data practices and operational efficiency.
- Recommend workflow improvements to strengthen accuracy, compliance, and user experience.
Staff Relationship: Reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support Services.
Requirements
- Must hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with information systems, platform integration, and state reporting platforms., * Effective communication, collaboration, and customer service skills to support school, district personnel, and end users.
- Experience with information systems, data platforms, or other enterprise-level software.
- Strong skills in data validation, troubleshooting, and reporting
- Proficiency in data entry, data analytics, and reporting tools.
- Proficiency with Excel (advanced functions preferred) and relational databases, including familiarity with data formats like TXT, CSV or JSON.
- Understand Tennessee state data compliance and reporting procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Physical Demands:
This individual must be able to work in a fast-paced office environment; possess excellent memory and strong attention to detail; be emotionally mature and able to handle stress; and have the intellectual, sensory, and motor skills required for effective data and system management. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stoop, and maintain dexterity for computer-based tasks.
