Job description
We are hiring an IT Technician to be the day-to-day go-to person for technology at the mill - workstations, printers, accounts, basic networking, and end-user support for office and operations staff. This is a hands-on role with real ownership of the IT environment and a clear path to grow into broader responsibilities, including industrial systems support., * Provide first-line support for all mill and office staff: workstations, laptops, printers, mobile devices, phones, and Microsoft 365.
- Image, deploy, and maintain Windows 10/11 endpoints and basic peripherals.
- Manage user accounts in Active Directory and Microsoft 365: onboarding, offboarding, password resets, group membership, and shared mailboxes.
- Maintain a clean asset inventory and documentation of the network, equipment, and standard procedures.
- Handle day-to-day networking tasks: switch port assignments, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, firewall and VPN client support.
- Apply patches, manage antivirus, and enforce MFA and acceptable-use policies.
- Support backup jobs and verify they are completing successfully; escalate failures.
- Procure IT hardware and consumables; track licenses and renewals.
- Partner with the Process Control Engineer on the IT side of manufacturing systems - operator tablets, industrial PCs, and shop-floor connectivity.
- Be available for occasional after-hours support during outages or planned maintenance.
Requirements
1+ year of IT support, help desk, or hands-on technical experience
- Solid working knowledge of Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365.
- Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, basic Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
- Comfortable with Active Directory user/group administration.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a customer-service mindset
- High-school diploma or GED required; associate's degree in IT or a related field, or equivalent certifications, preferred., * CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft 365 certifications.
- Exposure to Windows Server, Group Policy, or PowerShell scripting.
- Experience supporting a manufacturing, industrial, or 24/7 operations environment.
- Interest in learning industrial systems - SCADA platforms, SQL databases, and OT networking - with mentorship from the Process Control Engineer.
