Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related IT discipline or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of hands-on development experience with Natural and ADABAS in enterprise environments
  • Proven experience developing and supporting Natural applications (online and batch)
  • Extensive experience performing:

*Complex debugging and root-cause analysis

*Production issue resolution and performance tuning

*Ad-hoc data analysis and reconciliation

  • Demonstrated ability to write and maintain clear technical documentation, including program specifications and operational runbooks
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical issues for non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong working knowledge of:

*ADABAS database structures, files, and access paths

*Natural subprograms, maps, and batch processing

*Job scheduling and execution via JCL and/or SCL, * Experience supporting large, long-lived Natural/ADABAS codebases

  • Comfort working in regulated or high-reliability environments (financial services, insurance, government, etc.)
  • Exposure to data modernization efforts, system integrations, or migration initiatives
  • Strong analytical mindset - able to reason through data flows, edge cases, and unintended impacts
  • Ability to quickly understand unfamiliar legacy code and improve it safely
