Job description

The Strategic and Long-Range Communications Group is seeking creative and enthusiastic candidates to develop and analyze communications solutions for US Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3). Typical activities include communication systems research, NC3 system-of-systems analysis, and communication link simulation.

Day to day activities include

  • Develop novel ideas for NC3 communications technologies
  • Perform communications system analysis including algorithms, protocols, and approaches focused primarily at physical, link, and network layers
  • Analyze RF communications systems scenarios and identify key trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Perform link budget calculations; identify and account for key environmental characteristics that will drive performance

Requirements

  • PhD or M.S. degree with 5 plus years of experience in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, or related field
  • Demonstrated background in a relevant field and strong interest and motivation to apply their skills to problems in communications
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and set priorities
  • Strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with or analyzing the system-of-systems that makes up US NC3
  • Experience using MATLAB, Python, or similar numerical analysis tool
  • Experience with communication systems, information theory, and/or detection and estimation theory

Benefits & conditions

Recent Graduate Hiring Range: $145,200-$170,000

Experienced Hiring Range: $145,200-$220,000
