The selected Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer can get in on the ground floor of a system designed to provide another 50 years of security for this great nation. Nuclear Surety ensures that nuclear weapons are always protected against peacetime and wartime threats. A Nuclear Surety Systems Engineer at Northrop Grumman on the Sentinel program will be provided with the opportunity to:
- Performing decomposition of Department of Defense safety manuals into requirements and allocating them to design teams for implementation
- Provide systems engineering expertise to the design, integration, and testing of a next generation ICBM weapon system
- Participate in technical planning, system integration, verification, validation, cost, risk, supportability, and analysis for mechanical, electrical, and integrated systems
- Evaluate the physical security design based on the Department of Defense Safety manuals
- Interface directly with various compartments of the Department of Defense and Department of Energy to ensure safe design and operation of nuclear weapon systems
- Use model based engineering tools on a major weapon system to pioneer a new way to evaluate and analyze modern design
- Learn a niche discipline that spans all aspects of Nuclear Power and Munitions
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years of experience with Master's degree, 0 years of experience with PhD
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- 1+ years of experience developing or reviewing requirements within DOORS or similar tool
- 1+ year experience in ICBM (MMIII or Sentinel) OR complex aerospace/defense systems
- 1+ year experience in team environments with leadership responsibilities
- 1+ year experience creating, updating, and maintaining system performance documentation, * Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 8 years of experience with Bachelor's degree, 6 years of experience with Master's degree, 4 years of experience with PhD
- Must be a US Citizen with an active DoD Secret Clearance with an investigation date within the last 6 years
- Must be able to be successfully screened for Enhanced Security Clearances, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
- 2+ years of experience with requirements management/analysis/allocations
- 2+ years of experience with Model-Based Engineering / Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBE/MBSE) practices, languages and/or tools such as Cameo, Rhapsody or MagicDRAW
- 2+ years of experience with one or more of the following: Command & Control (C2), physical security, cybersecurity, Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) systems/processes, communications systems, facility design, military aerospace development (e.g. Sentinel, Minute Man III, B-2, B-21 delivery systems)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Self-driven, able to tackle challenges, solve problems with minimal oversight and make recommendations for solutions/process improvement to leadership

This position's standard work schedule is 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $158,000.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $196,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
