Job description
The Development Manager secures funds, grows the donor base, and advances awareness of West Central's mission and work. The Development Manager develops and implements fundraising campaigns, secures foundation and corporate grants, manages stakeholder relationships, and plans events to support West Central's overall strategy. This role supports organizational growth during a pivotal period and will contribute to an upcoming capital campaign through donor cultivation, solicitation support, and campaign execution., * Manage an assigned major donor portfolio through all phases of identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship
- Research, write, and submit grant proposals to foundation, corporate, and municipal funders; coordinate all grantor reporting
- In collaboration with the VP of Community Engagement, develop and execute annual fundraising strategies aligned with the agency's strategic plan
- Plan and execute fundraising events, including logistics, marketing, and follow-up
- Maintain the donor database and ensure accuracy of all gift records for tax, audit, and historical purposes
- Build and steward relationships with donors, board members, volunteers, and community partners
- Craft compelling donor communications and fundraising materials across multiple channels
- Prepare monthly development reports for the Board's Development & Community Relations Committee and executive leadership
- Monitor and evaluate fundraising outcomes and recommend improvements
Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or related field Certification, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising
Experience: Proven skill in fundraising, grant acquisition, donor relations, and nonprofit development. Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters Experience with social media and digital marketing tools, Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively communicate the organization's mission and fundraising needs. Ability to build and maintain relationships and lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers Excellent persuasive writing and storytelling abilities, capable of crafting compelling grant proposals, fundraising appeals, and donor communications. Proven experience in planning and executing successful fundraising events and campaigns, demonstrating creativity and attention to detail. Proficient in utilizing fundraising software, donor databases, and other relevant technology to streamline fundraising efforts and track donor relationships. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, managing multiple projects and deadlines concurrently. Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a keen eye for detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively. Strong analytical skills, capable of interpreting data and metrics to drive fundraising strategies and measure success. Commitment to maintaining ethical fundraising practices and confidentiality. Proficient in Microsoft Office and donor database/CRM software.
