As a Digital Solutions Engineer at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you will play a pivotal role in our mission to deliver outstanding cloud infrastructure solutions. This position is ideal for a driven individual who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about implementing world-class digital solutions. You will be instrumental in deploying cloud solutions for our customers, representing Manufacturing and Service, and will also provide training and support to field service engineers.

What will you do?

  • Engage with cloud solutions engineers and architects early in the Product Management Process (PMP) for new cloud solutions and PC/server. Specific attention will be placed on design for testability, reliability, sustainability, and serviceability by defining and agreeing on system specifications.
  • Work closely with hypervisor suppliers, manage SLAs, and coordinate license management.
  • Evaluate existing applications and platforms, provide recommendations for improving performance via gap analysis, identify the most practical alternative solutions, and assist with modifications.
  • Prepare software modules for production and service use; transfer them according to defined procedures and document knowledge transfer.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate system documentation, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Validate and implement automated deployments using configuration management technology.
  • Provide second-line field support by resolving hardware, software application, server, and network issues.
  • Identify root causes and provide solutions for permanent fixes.
  • Validate cloud-based software applications for release.
  • Offer software product support on application and network levels with a broad knowledge of IoT.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Engineering (BSc Computer Science, Mechatronics, or related field) with a strong affinity for software.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies like VMWare/KVM infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with servers, networking, and storage.
  • Experience with Microsoft Windows Server and Linux server OS.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages such as Bash and PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with the incident management process.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical approaches.
  • Experience in optimizing guidelines, work instructions, and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience with PC/server obsolescence management.
  • Proficiency with analysis/monitoring tools like Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Grafana.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Dockers, and Ansible is a plus.

Of course, we all know a list of job requirements is like a wish list. You list the highest priorities on top, but you know you can be surprised with items you didn't think of yourself. The same goes for this position. Are you certain you are the ideal candidate, but you do not match every part of the requirements? We are excited to get to know you and to discuss a possible fit.

Benefits & conditions

  • Direct contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific with a competitive salary, 13th month, holiday allowance, and annual incentive bonus.
  • A flexible working hours arrangement.
  • Excellent career progression opportunities within a growing global employer.
  • Training and courses available via our Thermo Fisher University to continuously develop yourself.
  • Collaborative work in an international environment.
  • Strong team spirit and many company and team activities.
  • Very attractive 40 holidays a year.
  • This is a full-time position (40 hours).
