Job description

The Sr. Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for designing and delivering intelligent analytics systems that combine traditional BI with AI-driven capabilities to enable faster, more autonomous decision making across Viant's operations. This role goes beyond dashboards and reporting to focus on building scalable data products, AI-powered insights, and conversational analytics experiences.

You will build and evolve reporting frameworks, data products, and AI-enabled analytics solutions that improve how both internal stakeholders and clients access and act on data. This includes supporting bespoke client data needs while identifying opportunities to standardize and scale solutions through reusable models, automation, and AI-driven workflows.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business questions into scalable data products, AI-assisted workflows, and decision systems
  • Design and implement AI-powered analytics solutions, including "chat with data" agents, automated insight generation, and anomaly detection
  • Build and maintain automated reporting while continuously evolving it toward self-service and AI-driven insight delivery
  • Develop and enhance semantic layers, metrics definitions, and data models that power both dashboards and AI systems
  • Enable self-service through a combination of dashboards, natural language interfaces, and intelligent agents that reduce dependency on manual analysis
  • Apply AI to accelerate analysis, identify patterns, and proactively surface insights rather than reactively reporting on them
  • Ensure data quality, governance, and consistency across both traditional BI outputs and AI-driven systems
  • Provide strategic recommendations by combining quantitative analysis with AI-augmented exploration of trends and performance drivers
  • Identify opportunities to automate recurring workflows using AI, reducing manual effort and increasing scalability
  • Continuously evaluate and adopt emerging AI tools and techniques to improve analytics capabilities and user experience

Requirements

Do you have experience in System design?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Emphasis on applying data, systems thinking, and emerging AI capabilities to real-world business problems

  • Advanced SQL expertise (BigQuery strongly preferred), including building data models that support both BI and AI use cases
  • 4-7+ years of experience in BI, analytics, or data roles, with increasing ownership of end-to-end solutions
  • Experience working with AI/ML tools, LLMs, or building data applications that incorporate natural language interfaces
  • Familiarity with Databricks or similar cloud-based data and AI platforms
  • Experience in digital advertising, programmatic media, or marketing analytics environments
  • Strong understanding of semantic layers, metrics standardization, and data modeling best practices
  • Ability to translate complex data concepts into intuitive, user-friendly experiences, including AI-driven interfaces
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to frame insights in a decision-oriented, business-first way
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on automation, scalability, and system design
  • Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with evolving tools, priorities, and technologies
