Job description
We are seeking a Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Database Operations team. This role is responsible for the operational management, performance, reliability, and availability of enterprise database platforms, with growing involvement in database DevOps initiatives. This is the second DBA on the database operations team and will work closely with database developers, application teams, and infrastructure partners. The ideal candidate is collaborative, proactive, and excited to learn and help shape evolving database practices. Skills Database administrator, Azure, Database management, Postgresql, Sql Server Top Skills Details Database administrator,Azure,Database management,Postgresql,Sql Additional Skills & Qualifications Primary Responsibilities Administer and support enterprise databases once deployed to production Ensure database performance, security, availability, and reliability Manage: Backups and restores Job scheduling and monitoring High availability & disaster recovery Production support and troubleshooting Assist with database design troubleshooting and stored procedure optimization Partner closely with Database Development and Application teams Participate in database DevOps efforts, including schema/version management Help define and clarify operational vs. development responsibilities across teams Support both project-based and operational initiatives Technical Environment Core Technologies (Primary): Microsoft SQL Server PostgreSQL Additional / Secondary Technologies: Azure SQL & PostgreSQL Azure Cosmos DB MongoDB (limited exposure) Databricks (handled by a separate data team) DevOps / Tools: CI/CD pipelines for databases Flyway (recently selected and rolling out)
Requirements
Experience preferred, not required Liquibase or similar tools considered relevant experience Key Skill Priorities Strong hands-on experience as a Senior DBA (SQL Server & PostgreSQL) Solid understanding of: Database infrastructure HA/DR Performance tuning Monitoring and automation Familiarity with DevOps concepts as they apply to databases Interest in learning and implementing new tools (e.g., Flyway) On-prem and cloud database experience (Azure preferred) Soft Skills & Cultural Fit Collaborative and team-oriented Comfortable working across teams and disciplines Proactive, takes initiative, and identifies improvements Willing to jump in and help where needed Not task-only focused-this role values ownership and long-term mindset Strong communication skills

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fort Mill, SC. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $75.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
