Job description
As a DevOps Infrastructure Engineer at Roche, you will be a key player in transforming how we manage and scale our IT ecosystem. You won't just be "managing servers"; you will be applying software engineering principles to build resilient, automated, and high-performing infrastructure that directly supports our mission to deliver better outcomes for patients.
Working under the guidance of the Hiring Manager, Andres Castillo, you will independently solve complex technical challenges, driving the evolution of our Hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) and ensuring our platforms are agile, secure, and future-ready.
Your Impact
- Engineering Excellence: You will manage the entire lifecycle of our platforms-from inception and design to deployment and retirement-optimizing for reliability, capacity, and performance.
- Automation First: You'll eliminate manual toil by building self-service tools and APIs, enabling our developers to ship code faster and more reliably through robust CI/CD pipelines.
- Service Reliability: You will ensure our IT services meet and exceed SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs, conducting blameless post-mortems and practicing sustainable incident response.
- Strategic Collaboration: You'll act as a bridge between technical requirements and business needs, collaborating with cross-functional virtual teams and external vendors across multiple time zones.
- Continuous Innovation: You will stay at the forefront of emerging technologies (Nutanix, VMWare, Hybrid Cloud), researching and sharing knowledge to keep our infrastructure at the cutting edge.
Who You Are
You are a proactive problem-solver who thrives in dynamic, agile environments. You balance deep technical expertise with a collaborative mindset, always keeping the "customer" (our developers and internal teams) at the heart of what you do.
Requirements
- Academic & Professional Background: 4-7 years of relevant experience (or 2-5 years with a Bachelor's; 1-3 years with a Master's). At least 1 year in a multinational environment is essential.
- Technical Core: Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC), automation tools, and scripting languages. Deep knowledge of infrastructure internals, administration, and configuration.
- HCI Expertise: Strong specialized knowledge in Nutanix Technology and VMWare VSphere. Familiarity with other market-leading hypervisor/hyperconverged technologies is a plus.
- DevOps & Agile Mindset: Solid understanding of CI/CD tools, automated testing, and Agile methodologies.
- Language Skills: Full proficiency in English (written and oral) is required. Spanish or other languages are a plus.
- Soft Skills: You are comfortable navigating ambiguity, can work independently with minimal supervision, and possess excellent interpersonal skills to influence and lead within virtual teams.
