Job description
We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer (Enterprise Storage) to provide technical expertise across our enterprise storage and backup services. The successful candidate will join a team that provides technical expertise across a range of core infrastructure platforms that underpin UCL's critical managed services. These include virtual infrastructure, public cloud platforms, web platforms, load balancers, enterprise storage and backup solutions. In this role you will work with a broad set of technologies, contributing to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of our storage and data protection platforms, helping ensure high levels of resilience, reliability and performance. You will leverage your experience and passion for IT, storage and data protection to support the wider team in driving platform improvements and modernisation, whilst collaborating with product owners and stakeholders across the university to deliver reliable, scalable services that meet UCL's business needs.
Requirements
You will have practical experience administering Windows or Linux systems within a service-oriented infrastructure environment, with a strong focus on automation and operational efficiency. You will bring strong technical knowledge of enterprise storage and backup technologies, with experience administering and safeguarding resilient data protection platforms across private and public cloud environments. This will include supporting data protection strategies, platform resilience and disaster recovery capabilities. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate the ability to manage problems through to resolution, often with uncertain and incomplete information, with an eye for detail and accuracy and an aptitude for analytical and logical methodologies. Have experience of using their specialist knowledge to advise and support team members in their technical activities in both project and operational environments, with an ability to adapt to changing technologies.
