Job description

In this Systems Engineer role, you will support the following types of activities:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for Linux environments and network architecture, providing guidance to engineering and operations teams.
  • Troubleshoot complex system and network issues, performing root cause analysis and implementing long-term solutions.
  • Lead System Build Efforts: Develop and implement installation plans, procedures and documentation for both tactical and non-tactical system builds.
  • Integrate Systems: Install and integrate server hardware, network hardware, operating systems and software into tactical and simulation systems, evaluating their compatibly and functionality.
  • Software Installation: Install and configure commercial, government and Raytheon software applications requested by end users.
  • Integrate Systems: Install and integrate server hardware, network hardware, operating systems and software into tactical and simulation systems, evaluating their compatibly and functionality.
  • Present Findings: Present technical findings and solutions to leadership.
  • Support Missions: Travel as needed (up to 20%) to support mission execution at various locations including local RTX facilities, test sites, vendor facilities, and customer locations.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience with Linux architecture, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with network equipment, deployment, administration, performance monitoring/tuning, security hardening, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with systems software, systems hardware, systems requirements, systems integration, and/or systems test.

Qualifications We Prefer:

  • Experience with network design and management.
  • Experience using VMware or other virtual computing methods
  • Experience Scripting (Bash, Python, Ansible) and Kickstart
  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
  • Experience with generating technical documentation, such as system build plans, procedures, or technical reports.
  • Experience working in an integration lab, test facility, or in the field, supporting integration and/or verification.
  • Experience interfacing with internal and external customers.
  • Cisco Certification, RedHat Certified Systems Administrator, VMWare or other industry relevant certifications

Benefits & conditions

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company's performance.

This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
