Job description

Manage the technology infrastructure, including networks, servers, devices, software and hardware licensing, physical security, cybersecurity and installation and maintenance of technology hardware. Responsibilities include the design and maintenance of data center equipment and wireless infrastructure as well as managing backup routines and all domain related activities., * Maintain and configure technology infrastructure, including network hardware including routers, switches and wireless network hardware and software. This includes regular firmware and software upgrades and regular monitoring and troubleshooting.

  • Manage and maintain server hardware and operating systems as well as Domain Controllers including Active Directory, DNS, Group Policies and DHCP roles.
  • Manage, configure and maintain Hyper-V and VMWare virtualization environments including physical hosts and virtual machines.
  • Manage datacenter hardware and software lifecycle, including researching and making decisions on new infrastructure, hardware and software options and working with vendors to complete projects.
  • Create and maintain documentation on all network and server systems as well as the applications being run on those systems.
  • Work with Director of Technology to implement the district's technology strategic plan and evaluating equipment needs for the Tools for Schools purchases and E-Rate applications.
  • Manage data center hardware and software lifecycle, including selecting and standardizing server hardware and software.
  • Maintaining inventory, asset tracking systems and help desk ticket systems.
  • Work with TSS staff in managing content filtering software.
  • Work with TSS staff in supporting all staff and equipment across the county.
  • Manage and maintain all uninterruptable power supplies across county and replace batteries and equipment as needed.
  • Manage Backup and Recovery operations.
  • Must communicate with appropriate support resources (county, State contract vendors, warranty providers, and support contract providers for additional assistance.
  • Work with Safety Coordinator to ensure that our surveillance servers and camera connections are operational.
  • Meet regularly with our Managed Detection Response provider (currently Arctic Wolf) and respond to their recommendations for network hardening as well as current threats.
  • Coordinate with WVDE Network Administrators to maintain good connections with the K-12 network.
  • Work with service providers to evaluate and install/repair network services.
  • Monitor network resources on a daily basis to evaluate health of the network.
  • Communicate with service providers to report problems and follow-up with progress of repairs.
  • Work with Director of Technology as needed in the development of bid documents or coordination with established purchasing contracts, creation of POs, reviewing invoices to ensure accuracy of vendor billing, and keeping necessary documentation to support financial reporting, grant programs and audits.
  • Must attend technology trainings as requested by supervisor.
  • Network Administrators must be willing to work a flexible schedule as needed for purposes of systems maintenance, installations and network and server outages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Education Technology, or related field.
  • Experience in technology management or leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of networking, systems administration, wireless services, server hardware and operating systems and cybersecurity
  • Certifications in the areas of networking or wireless are preferred.
  • Experience in VMWare and Hyper-V virtualization environments
  • Experience with Extreme Networking equipment, switches, routers and APs

SALARY: Salary based on experience and education level per MCS BOE salary schedule located at https://boe.mars.k12.wv.us/o/mcs/page/salary-schedules plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
