- Support designing and perform hands-on building of applications that are reliable, scalable and easy to maintain
- Ensure that engineering quality standards are met within your team
- Contribute to architectural and code review discussions that impact our engineering ecosystem
- Collaborate with leads and engineers on your team to solve a wide variety of business and technical problems
- Ensure our systems are properly documented
- Contribute to the growth and development of the Wayfair engineering organization, Platforms Tech: Responsible for the entire Wayfair website and all backend components that fuels and powers production. You can be an embedded engineer or a platform engineer. Embedded engineers work directly with engineering verticals to build and consult in building new initiatives. Platform engineers are subject matter experts for languages and engineering tools. You can expect to work with engineers that thrive in collaboration and expertise in one of Wayfair's supported languages or frameworks including Java, .NET, Python, PHP, Backstage, Buildkite, or SonarQube. You can expect to work with engineers that thrive in collaboration and expertise in one of Wayfair's supported languages (Java, .NET, Python, PHP, Javascript, with some Golang and Rust) and frameworks (Backstage, Buildkite, SonarQube, Puppet, Terraform and others).
Customer Tech: Customer Tech owns the end-to-end shopping journey for our customers across web and native apps, from search and browse through add-to-cart. As an engineer here, you might work on Storefront experiences or SMART (Search & Recommendations) systems, building high-scale services and UIs that help customers discover products, compare options, and feel confident hitting "Place Order.".
Supply Chain Retail Tech: Develops the complex, ground-breaking logistics system to help move the products Wayfair sells from suppliers to warehouses to customers. Supply Chain is responsible for international transportation, warehouse management, and the customer delivery network making it all possible.
Requirements
- 0-3 years of transferable experience in a corporate environment, including internship and co-op experience.
- Bachelor's degree.
- 1-3 years of transferable software development experience (full stack and/or mobile development) in a corporate environment, including internship and co-op experience
- Bachelors in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or another related technical discipline
- Knowledge and experience working with object oriented programming languages
- Experience or exposure to SQL, Java, and Python, * Excellent team player with a passion for collaboration
- Familiarity with creating software tools and functionality, debugging code, and successfully incorporating feedback into your work
- Strong skills in solving complex problems with simple abstract solutions
- An interest in working with big data and machine learning
- Experience with using cloud platforms to solve problems
- Experience working in agile environments
- Strong communication skills and the ability to take on projects or tool autonomously
