Autodesk Civil 3D design software is used to plan, design, and deliver land development, water, and transportation projects, and empowers civil engineers and professionals to meet complex infrastructure challenges in a 3D model-based environment. Our Civil 3D Product team is establishing a brand-new R&D center in Pune, India, and we are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Director of Engineering to lead our efforts.
The candidate will be responsible for hiring and onboarding the new teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation, and building a center of excellence at the Pune site. The ideal candidate will need to have a strong technical background, exceptional leadership skills, and a strategic mindset to drive innovation and deliver high-quality software projects.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard and develop a talented and highly motivated team of engineers and managers to successfully deliver the strategic priorities - from the most junior to the most senior
- Provide mentoring, coaching, and professional development opportunities for engineering managers and team members
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
- Inspire and motivate team members to be effective and engaged
- Establish and build a center of excellence at the Pune site
- Oversee the daily activities and development of the engineering team, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, with high quality
- Drive results through your personal involvement and direct leadership
- Collaborate with other engineering teams and disciplines to ensure alignment with product and business goals
- Communicate early and often, building a culture of trust and collaboration between engineers and teams across multiple offices and disciplines
- Willingness to debate ideas with an aim at finding the best solutions
- Champion and drive best in class engineering practices and agility across the teams and larger engineering organization
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in software engineering, with 5+ years in a leadership role
- Proven track record of managing and delivering large-scale software projects
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies, tools, and processes
- Solid hands-on experience in C/C++, C#, .Net, etc.
- Excellent problem-solving, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in establishing and building new teams or R&D centers
- Ability to motivate and inspire a team, * Excellent technical understanding and experience with technologies commonly used in multiplatform CAD Applications
- Experience with AutoCAD / Civil 3D and/or knowledge of other CAD systems
- Graphics Standards: OpenGL, DirectX, Vulkan, WebGL, WebGPU
- CAD Standards: DWG, PDF, DWF, STEP, IGES, JT, IFC
