The Solar Manufacturing Engineering team at Tesla is looking for ahighly-motivatedManufacturing ControlsDevelopmentEngineer to contribute to the development and ramp ofsolar manufacturing equipmentatmassivescale. What You'll Do

Manageautomation projects including equipment specification, project management, factory & site acceptance testing, installation, and commissioning/debugging

Collaborate with the Solar Engineering R&D team to propose solutions for Tesla's next-generationsolar equipmentdesigns

Troubleshoot and recover processes by PLC ladder logic, HMI, or tool management software, and implement changes/improvements

Program controls andautomatedvision systems for integrated quality control and process step verification

Optimizemanufacturing lines to meet uptime,availabilityand reliability metrics - OEE, cycle time, quality, yield

Actively use tool data sources (e.g.MES reports) to quantitatively evaluate and track tool performance and create programs to improve relevant metrics

Work independently and with vendors to understand rootcausesof failures, propose design orcomponentchanges, and implement andvalidateequipment modifications

Develop and deliver training to operations and maintenance technicians toensure andseamless handover of new equipment

Generate andmaintaindocumentation including machine and process specifications, drawings, BOM, spare parts, PFMEA, control plan, process flow chart
Requirements
-
Bachelor's Degreein ElectricalEngineering, ComputerScience, Mechatronics, MechanicalEngineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalentexperience

2-5+ years ofwork experience inahigh-volume manufacturing environmentinvolvingautomation equipment, robots, electromechanical systems, PLCs,andmotion controls

PLC programming experience, ideally with Siemens, Beckhoff, orInnovance

Robot programmingexperience, preferably with Fanuc or Kuka

High levelofproficiencywith machine vision systems such as Cognex, Keyence, Omron, OpenCV

In-depth knowledge of equipment safety standards (ANSI/RIA 15.06, OSHA compliance) and electrical standards (NFPA 79, NEC, UL 508A)

Familiarity withscript-based programming (Python, Go, SQL)

Proficiencycreating detailed electrical schematics in CAD (AutoCAD Electrical preferred), and tooling design withSolidworksor 3D CAD software is a plus

Able to travel up to 25% of the time, both domestically and internationally

Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written

Expected Compensation $117,360 - $176,040/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
