Job description

  • As a System Engineer IV, 5G HMNO (Release & Implementation), you will lead and support release management, upgrades, and new capability deployments across 5G Core and RAN environments. This role focuses on CAPEX-driven initiatives including implementations, upgrades, and expansions. You will play a key role in next generation platform upgrades and onboarding new capabilities into the HMNO network.

  • Lead release management activities for 5G HMNO Core and RAN platforms (planning, coordination, execution, validation)

  • Drive implementation of new network capabilities and upgrades (CAPEX initiatives)

  • Support end to end deployment lifecycle: lab validation, integration, production rollout, stabilization

  • Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Vendors for successful releases

  • Develop and maintain release plans, runbooks, and rollback procedures

  • Validate system readiness (capacity, performance, integration checkpoints)

  • Support upgrade initiatives (e.g., next gen releases such as Mantra Ray)

  • Identify risks and dependencies; proactively mitigate issues

  • Provide light operational support during stabilization windows

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of release processes and automation

  • Release Management (Primary)

  • 5G Core (AMF, SMF, UPF) & RAN Integration

Requirements

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Sponsorship not available., * 5+ years in wireless/telecom engineering

  • Strong experience in 5G Core and/or RAN
  • Proven experience in deployments, upgrades, or release management
  • Experience supporting implementation to production lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of 5G architecture (Core + RAN)
  • Experience with release coordination and deployment planning
  • Knowledge of LTE, 5G NR, CBRS
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, routing, switching)
  • Ability to manage multiple parallel releases
  • Strong cross team communication skills
  • Experience with AWS Cloud and cloud based 5G Core
  • Hands on experience with Red Hat OpenShift (OCP)
  • Experience with Remedy or similar ITSM tools
  • Experience in HMNO or large scale mobile networks
  • Exposure to automation/scripting (Python, Ansible)
  • Familiarity with cloud native 5G Core
  • Experience working with vendors during upgrade cycles
