Job description
We are a well-established and progressive firm of solicitors looking to recruit an experienced IT Systems & Data Engineer to play a key in-house role supporting and developing our technology landscape.This is not a helpdesk-only role. You will work closely with directors, fee earners and external IT partners to ensure our systems are reliable, well-governed and capable of supporting a modern legal practice., You will be responsible for:
- Day-to-day ownership and development of the firm's IT systems, working alongside a co-managed external IT provider
- Supporting and improving our legal case management and document management systems
- Writing, reviewing and optimising SQL queries, reports and data extracts to support management reporting, compliance and operational insight
- Acting as the internal technical lead on system issues, upgrades and integrations
- Liaising with external suppliers on escalation, performance and improvements
- Ensuring data security, integrity and audit readiness in a regulated (SRA) environment
- Translating technical issues into clear, practical advice for non-technical users
Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, We would particularly like to hear from candidates with:
- Previous experience in a law firm or professional services environment (highly desirable)
- Strong working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
- Experience supporting case management / practice management systems
- A solid understanding of Microsoft 365, Windows environments and cloud-based services (e.g. Azure)
- Confidence working independently as the firm's in-house IT specialist
- The ability to communicate clearly with both technical suppliers and non-technical colleagues
