Job description
UST is looking for a strong IBM MDM Expert with Java to work on a complex customer MDM system in a high demanding multi-vendor environment.
The opportunity:

Lead end to end implementation, configuration, and customization of IBM MDM (physical/virtual MDM as applicable).

Design and optimize matching, merging, suspect processing, and survivorship rules to meet data quality and golden record standards

Design and implement matching algorithms (e.g., Soundex, Metaphone, normalization, fuzzy matching, phonetic algorithms) to improve entity resolution.

Develop probabilistic/deterministic matching strategies; maintain training/test datasets to validate accuracy and reduce false matches.

Build robust, high-performance services and libraries using Java 21 features (records, virtual threads/structured concurrency, pattern matching where applicable).

Apply OOP, SOLID principles, and design patterns to create maintainable, testable components.

Build and maintain Spark jobs for data ingestion, standardization, de-duplication, and publishing golden records.

Develop streaming pipelines (e.g., Structured Streaming, Kafka integration) to support near-real-time MDM enrichment.

Produce clear design docs, runbooks, data dictionaries, and interface contracts.

Collaborate with Data Governance, Platform, Security, QA, and Product teams

Strong problem-solving abilities, good communication (written & verbal) skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team are also important for this role.

The evaluation includes an hands on coding/troubleshooting exercise and should be able to articulate past projects and do on the fly troubleshooting/ write logic

Should be able to be in Video Calls from 8 am to 5pm CST , 5 days a week

Should be able to come on VC without notice during the standard business hours

Candidate does not work outside the initially agreed location/Address

5-7 years hands on experience in implementation (including troubleshooting and optimization) of IBM MDM tool

5 years of experience with Java - expertise in JAVA 21 is a must-have

3 years of experience with Algorithm development (example Soundex)

3-4 years hands-on with Apache Spark (batch and streaming pipelines)

Strong programming skills in Java, including object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and familiarity with Java frameworks

Understanding of microservices architecture and experience in building and deploying microservices-based applications

Familiarity with Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) practices, including automated testing, building pipelines, and deployment strategies

UST provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in various U.S. markets as set forth below., Full-time, regular employees accrue a minimum of 10 days of paid vacation per year, receive 6 days of paid sick leave each year (pro-rated for new hires throughout the year), 10 paid holidays, and are eligible for paid bereavement leave and jury duty. They are eligible to participate in the Company's 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer matching. They and their dependents residing in the US are eligible for medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as the following Company-paid Employee Only benefits: basic life insurance, accidental death and disability insurance, and short- and long-term disability benefits.
