Job description
The Senior Aptitude Technician will support integrated technology system activities (installation, testing, and maintenance) on a job site by working with tools, participating in testing and installing systems. This position will be responsible for completing tasks personally and supervising a crew as a working lead. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision, and values of JE Dunn.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
SENIOR APTITUDE TECHNICIAN FAMILY - CORE

Works with tools to complete specific assigned tasks on a project

Tracks and reports units and labor hours, including filling out and submitting timecards

Maintains proper care and the appropriate number of tools and equipment necessary to support productions specific to a project

Leads and monitors safety and security procedures within the crew

Understands and achieves crew production goals

Establishes crew sizes that align with production goals

Documents key information such as activities, productions and crew sizes

Communicates with suppliers and coordinates delivery of supplies to jobsite

Understands and maintains established quality levels associated with duties

Coordinates other trade work associated with the assigned scope of work

Participates in all safety activities such as tool box talks, job hazard analysis, job site analysis and SIMS (Site Information Management System) reporting

Reads and understands plans, specifications, shop drawings and coordination drawings
-
Provides on-the-job guidance and willingly shares subject matter expertise in order to support team member learning and development

Coordinates inspections for assigned scope of work

Leads a small team implementing complex installations and ensuring team adherence to industry standards and project timelines

Oversees quality of all aspects of structured cabling projects

Troubleshoots advanced systems issues and implement effective solutions
Requirements
-
Ability to perform work accurately and completely, and in a timely manner

Effective Communication skills, verbal and written

Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work
-
Proficiency with termination and splicing tools and inspection scopes

Understanding of MPO trunks and high-density systems
-
Proficient with OTDR, OLTS, and inspection tools
-
Demonstrated ability to manage multi-system integration projects
-
BICSI, NICET, or manufacturer certifications preferred
-
Basic understanding of principles of layout and construction math
-
Ability to complete assigned duties with minimal guidance
-
Ability to provide excellent customer service

Ability to build relationships and collaborate within a team, both internally and externally

Proficiency in MS Office and other computer applications
Education
-
High School Diploma or GED (Preferred)
-
Apprentice and/or Vocational/Technical/Trade training (Preferred)

In lieu of the above requirements, equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
- 2+ years' experience in cable installation, testing or maintenance, with a preference towards experience in a data center environment (Preferred)
Working Environment

Must be able to lift at least to 50 pounds

May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold)

Must be willing to work non-traditional hours to meet project needs

Must have reliable transportation

May require use of respirator

Must be comfortable working at projected heights, narrow workspaces, various depths (trenches)
