Job description
The Development Chief is a Senior Technical Leader responsible for setting software strategy, driving innovation, overseeing architecture, and managing engineering teams. In this role you will bridge business goals with technical execution, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and secure product delivery. The Development Chief is responsible for monitoring productivity, outputs, and controlling the pace of software delivery during the entire development phase. You will guide software development teams through coaching sessions or mentorship and manages multiple projects simultaneously. The Development Chief has a high understanding of available technical solutions and contributes to team success at the code level. You will collaborate with the Project Managers to ensure requirements are met and delivered accurately from a technological standpoint. You will be required to provide regular project status updates to address any project requirements, issues, or changes encountered by the development team. You will also monitor and mentor the developers to maintain a high quality of the software products by establishing good habits and practices. You will evaluate a variety of software products, provides peer review and solutions to related code. You will coordinate with internal teams, such as SQA to ensure alignment for the seamless implementation of technology in the system and take responsibility in making strategic decisions that will help ensure the implementation of approved initiatives., Strategic Direction
- Align software development with business objectives, manage the technical roadmap, and stay updated on emerging technologies
- Drives innovation, determines impediments and provides solutions to complete development and technology implementation goals
- Determines development and technical goals and objectives at the beginning of the project until it is accomplished
Technical Leadership
- Oversee software architecture, ensure best practices, and guide development teams
- Keeps the team in line with all development activities and tasks based on approved priorities best qualified staff
Team Management
- Mentor developers and manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Must resolve conflict or miscommunication that may arise to avoid any negative impact on development team collaboration
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a key technical decision-maker in project, product, and architectural discussions.
- Distributes information from the software development and technical implementation side, including requirements, updates, or challenges associated with software development and technical implementation to all stakeholders
Requirements
- BA or BS degree (or 5 years of additional work experience in replacement of the BA/BS degree)
- Ability to obtain moderate security clearance
- 10 years of experience leading the implementation of technical software and system solutions
- Deep expertise in software architecture and development
- Strong leadership, mentoring, and communication skills
- Experience with Agile methodologies and modern engineering practices
- Expertise modernizing legacy systems to a microservice architecture adhering to Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience developing solutions that include Web Front End Development, Microservices Back-End Development, API Development, and Data Migration
- Expert designing and implementing software solutions using multiple technology including Java, JavaScript, Git, SQL, Python, Angular JS, React.js, Vue.js, Empower, AWS tools, Microsoft C#, Angular 2
