As a Senior Systems Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure) at MKS, you will partner with IT Engineering, IT Architecture, and business stakeholders to design, build, and support resilient cloud and hybrid infrastructure solutions. This role reports to the Cloud Engineering & Operations Manager and is hands-on, infrastructure-focused rather than DevOpscentric.
The preferred candidate will be located in, or able to work within, the Eastern Daylight Time (EDT) zone.
This role is critical to the stability, scalability, and security of our cloud environments. You will play a key role in maintaining and evolving enterprise-grade infrastructure while providing senior-level technical leadership and support across cloud platforms. You Will Make an Impact By-
- Defining system requirements and designing robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure architectures.
- Supporting and modernizing existing cloud and hybrid environments with a strong focus on stability, availability, and recoverability.
- Designing, implementing, and operating cloud infrastructure in AWS and/or Azure, with an emphasis on core services (compute, storage, networking, identity).
- Developing and maintaining Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform to ensure repeatable, reliable infrastructure deployments.
- Providing L3-level technical support for cloud and hybrid systems, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues across AWS/Azure, Windows, and hybrid connectivity components.
- Supporting cloud networking fundamentals, including VPC/VNet design, routing, DNS, firewalls, load balancing, VPNs, and private connectivity.
- Monitoring cloud platforms for performance, cost efficiency, security, and operational health.
- Collaborating with architecture, security, and operations teams to align infrastructure solutions with organizational standards and best practices.
- Supporting cloud migrations, infrastructure optimizations, and enhancements of existing environments.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience and 10+ years of hands-on experience in systems engineering and cloud infrastructure.
- Strong experience with cloud platforms (AWS and/or Azure), with depth in core infrastructure services.
- Windows systems administration (L3 level), including performance troubleshooting, high availability configurations, and incident resolution.
- Infrastructure as Code expertise using Terraform, including designing, authoring, and maintaining reusable modules.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking fundamentals, including routing, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPNs, and hybrid connectivity.
- Strong infrastructure mindset with experience supporting enterprise-scale, production environments.
- Familiarity with cloud security principles, including identity and access management, network segmentation, and governance controls.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing or supporting Cloud Landing Zones in AWS and/or Azure.
- Advanced networking experience, including SDWAN, MPLS, ExpressRoute/Direct Connect, or complex hybrid WAN integrations.
- Linux systems administration experience.
- Relevant certifications (AWS, Azure, Microsoft, Terraform, ITIL).
- Exposure to cloud cost management (FinOps) and compliance initiatives.
- Working knowledge of Python or cloud-native automation (e.g., AWS Lambda) for infrastructure-related use cases.
- Demonstrated ability to lead infrastructure initiatives endtoend, including requirements gathering, technical design, and crossteam collaboration.
Benefits & conditions
Salary Pay Range: $ 89K-120K per year. This range is a good faith estimate of the expected salary range for this position, based on a wide range of factors including qualifications, experience and training, operational and business needs and other considerations permitted by law.
Bonus: This position is eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, in an amount to be determined by MKS [or as applicable].
