Job description
Develop conceptual sketches and schematic drawings showing major product characteristics in response to customer inquiries generated by sales representatives for cost estimate information. Analyze the mechanical and physical parameters of products using mathematical, intuition, and computer aided methods to verify soundness, safety-factor and functional performance. Applies product knowledge, company-specific design standards, and design recall in the development of equipment characteristics to fill customer needs. Select or specify non-standard components and prepare purchase requisitions for production orders and collaborate in product design and common parts utilization. Work with Manufacturing on fabrication optimization and production simplification from a design standpoint. Work with Drafting to review detailed drawings and ensure customer specifications and expectations are met. Identify test protocols, develop fixtures, analyze test data, and approve results to

Must also include at least one (1) year of experience creating 3D CAD models and drawings of mechanical components using Creo or SolidWorks and collaborating with manufacturing on Design Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and Design Verification & Product Reliability (DVP&R) activities. May require travel to unanticipated client sites throughout the United States less than 10% of time., In the alternative, the employer will accept at least a Bachelor's Degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field, and at least 5 years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in design engineering or mechanical engineering (any title).
