Job description

The System Analyst (Level IV) bridges business requirements and data engineering delivery within a P&SC intelligence squad. This role is responsible for deep functional knowledge of assigned source systems, translating operational business processes into clear, traceable data product requirements that data engineers can build from and BI products can trust. The System Analyst is a critical quality and accountability layer, ensuring what gets built is what the business needs, and that data flowing into squad products accurately reflects system-of-record behavior. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: Serve as the functional domain expert for one or more assigned source systems within the squad's data product scope, including Oracle ERP, o9, WMS/AIMS+, Apkudo, Ariba, ZIP, or SAP. Translate business process requirements and operational questions into detailed, traceable data product specifications that guide data engineering builds and BI product design. Define and document data dictionaries, field-level mappings, transformation logic, and business rules for all data products within the squad's scope. Lead requirements discovery sessions with business stakeholders and operational system owners, ensuring analytical product requirements are grounded in verified system-of-record behavior. Own data acceptance testing, validating that built data products accurately reflect source system data, operational business logic, and agreed metric definitions. Identify and triage data quality issues, root-cause discrepancies against source systems, and drive resolution in partnership with data engineering teams. Support pipeline design reviews, ensuring ingestion and transformation logic aligns with documented business rules and upstream system constraints. Maintain living documentation for squad data products including data lineage, certification criteria, known limitations, and refresh dependencies. Partner with Technical Product Managers and Business Intelligence Managers to sequence and scope backlog items, ensuring new data product work is supported by adequate source system understanding and requirements clarity. Mentor junior analysts within the squad on source system navigation, requirements writing, and data quality practices.

Requirements

7-10 years of experience in system analysis, data analysis, or business analysis roles with significant exposure to enterprise operational systems. Deep functional expertise in at least one major supply chain or procurement system such as Oracle ERP, SAP, o9 Solutions, or comparable platforms. Proven ability to produce rigorous, actionable data product requirements including field-level mappings, transformation logic, and acceptance criteria. Strong SQL proficiency for source system interrogation, data validation, and requirements tracing. Experience leading business requirements sessions and translating complex operational processes into structured analytical data product specifications. Demonstrated track record identifying and resolving data quality issues across complex multi-system environments. Ability to work comfortably across technical data engineering conversations and business stakeholder discussions, serving as a reliable translator between both. Strong documentation discipline with experience maintaining data dictionaries, lineage documentation, and data product certification records. Experience operating in agile delivery environments with active backlog participation. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with Client's operational systems or supply chain operations. Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric IQ, Databricks, or Azure Data Lake for data validation and profiling. Exposure to real-time or near-real-time integration patterns (Kafka, Azure Event Hub) and understanding of streaming data considerations
