Job description
We are looking for a Technical Publisher based in Bristol to support a complex radar development programme within the defence and aerospace sector. As a Technical Publisher, you will be responsible for creating, managing, and delivering high-quality technical documentation in compliance with customer, industry, and defence standards. Your work will be key to ensuring clarity, accuracy, and consistency across the full documentation lifecycle playing a central role in how the project delivers to its customers. - Develop, edit, and publish technical documentation including manuals, data modules, test reports, and qualification evidence for radar systems.
- Ensure compliance with ASD S1000D, DEF STAN, and other relevant defence and industry standards.
- Use Teamcenter Unified (TCU) to manage document structures, metadata, version control, and configuration baselines.
- Collaborate with engineering, design, systems, and support teams to extract technical data and transform it into clear, user-focused content.
- Maintain consistency, accuracy, and integrity of documentation across multiple product variants and development phases.
- Support document change management and configuration control activities through TCU workflows.
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to resolve publication queries and provide technical support.
- Contribute to process improvements in technical publishing, with a focus on TCU integration and automation.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Technical Publisher or Technical Author in a complex engineering environment (defence, aerospace, radar, or related field).
- Hands-on experience with Teamcenter Unified (TCU) for product lifecycle management and technical publishing.
- Experience with DOORS for requirements updates and compliance assessment.
- Knowledge of S1000D standards, XML-based authoring tools, and IETP production.
- Familiarity with defence standards (e.g., DEF STAN 00-600, MIL-STD-40051) and associated publishing requirements.
- Proficient in MS Office and XML/SGML editing tools.
- Experience with radar or sensor systems documentation.
- Knowledge of Illustrator / CAD integration for technical illustrations.
- Understanding of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) principles.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent written communication and technical editing skills.
- Ability to work with engineers and SMEs to extract complex technical information and present it clearly.
- Experience in configuration management, document control, and versioning within PLM systems.
- Security clearance (or eligibility to obtain SC) for defence programmes.
