Job description
- Administer, maintain, and optimize virtualized server environments, including hypervisors, virtual machines, and supporting infrastructure across Windows and Linux platforms
- Monitor health, performance, and utilization of virtual compute resources, proactively identifying opportunities to enhance capacity, resilience, and efficiency
- Implement secure configuration baselines, system hardening, and STIG aligned controls across all managed virtual servers and supporting components
- Execute timely patching and security updates for virtual hosts, guest operating systems, hypervisors, and associated tools using automated deployment and compliance technologies
- Review weekly compliance and security scan results, identify noncompliant systems, determine root causes, and coordinate remediation actions with system owners
- Track and apply approved security directives, task orders, and vulnerability notices, ensuring alignment with enterprise cybersecurity requirements and reporting timelines
- Design, build, and maintain virtual machine templates, golden images, firmware versions, and standardized configuration profiles to ensure consistent and secure deployments
- Provide Tier 3 troubleshooting and escalation support for complex virtualization issues including storage, networking, cluster health, and resource contention
- Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, networking, and operations teams to implement new virtual infrastructure solutions, support accreditation activities, and validate secure configurations
- Maintain documentation of system configurations, patch schedules, template updates, and procedures to support audit readiness and change control
Requirements

Experience:
8 + years of related experience, * EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field, or 8-12+ years of relevant IT experience in lieu of a degree
- CERTIFICATION: Meet DoD 8140 Information Assurance Workforce certification requirements (e.g. Security+ CE, etc.)
- CLEARANCE: Active TS/SCI clearance with a favorable polygraph
- Hands on experience administering VMware, Hyper-V, or comparable virtualization platforms in an enterprise environment
- Working knowledge of Windows and Linux server administration, performance tuning, and secure configuration practices
- Experience performing patch management, vulnerability remediation, system hardening, and compliance reporting across virtualized systems
- Strong analytical, documentation, and cross-team communication skills
- US citizenship required

Benefits & conditions
The likely salary range for this position is $147,292 - $199,278. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
