Job description

insightsoftware is seeking a Product Owner to support the administrative reporting domain within the Certent Equity Management (CEM) platform. Administrative reporting is a core capability that equity plan administrators, HR teams, and compliance stakeholders rely on daily to manage participant data, monitor plan activity, fulfill internal audit requirements, and support operational decision-making. This role is responsible for translating reporting needs into well-defined requirements, managing the backlog, and ensuring engineering teams have the clarity they need to deliver. The Product Owner will work hands-on with engineering, QA, Professional Services, and Customer Support to drive admin reporting features, enhancements, and defect resolution from requirements through delivery - while partnering with the Senior Product Manager on strategic direction and roadmap alignment., Backlog Management & Requirements

  • Own and maintain the administrative reporting backlog, ensuring stories are groomed, prioritized, and ready for sprint planning in alignment with the broader CEM reporting roadmap

  • Write detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and functional specifications for new admin reports, report enhancements, filters, scheduling capabilities, export formats, and data presentation improvements

  • Define edge cases, data boundary conditions, and output validation rules for reports spanning participant demographics, grant activity, vesting schedules, transaction history, plan status, tax withholding, and corporate actions

  • Triage and prioritize incoming admin reporting defects and enhancement requests from Customer Support, Professional Services, and direct customer escalations

  • Partner with the Senior Product Manager to align admin reporting priorities with broader platform strategy and cross-domain dependencies

Execution & Delivery

  • Serve as the primary product point of contact for the engineering team during sprint execution on admin reporting workstreams

  • Participate in all Agile ceremonies - sprint planning, daily standups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives

  • Accept or reject completed work against defined acceptance criteria, ensuring delivered reports meet accuracy, performance, and usability standards expected of a financial services SaaS platform

  • Validate report output against source data, confirming calculation integrity, filtering behavior, sort logic, and export fidelity across formats (PDF, Excel, CSV)

  • Track delivery progress and flag risks, blockers, or scope changes to the Senior Product Manager promptly

Reporting Domain Ownership

  • Develop and maintain deep expertise in CEM's administrative reporting capabilities - understanding the full inventory of existing reports, their underlying data sources, user workflows, and known limitations

  • Identify reporting gaps by analyzing customer requests, support ticket patterns, and competitive offerings to build a prioritized enhancement pipeline

  • Define reporting standards and conventions for consistency across the admin reporting suite - including naming conventions, default filter behavior, column ordering, date handling, and pagination

  • Partner with the Financial Reporting Product Owner to ensure alignment on shared data models, terminology, and reporting infrastructure where admin and financial reporting intersect

  • Evaluate and recommend improvements to report generation performance, particularly for large-scale batch reports and high-volume participant datasets

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with QA to define test scenarios and validate admin reporting output across plan types, participant populations, grant configurations, and edge case data conditions

  • Partner with other CEM Product Owners (Admin, ESPP, Batch Processing, Broker) to ensure admin reports accurately reflect upstream data changes and new platform capabilities

  • Collaborate with Professional Services to understand customer reporting configurations, common customization requests, and implementation pain points that can be addressed through product improvements

  • Work with Customer Support to review recurring reporting-related tickets, identify root causes, and prioritize fixes that reduce support volume

  • Support Product Marketing with release notes, feature documentation, and reporting capability summaries for sales enablement and customer communications

Requirements

Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 1 + years in a product owner, business analyst, or junior product management role, preferably in B2B SaaS environments

  • Strong track record of working directly with engineering teams in Agile/Scrum environments

  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and written communication abilities - particularly around data accuracy and output validation

Technical & Domain Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of equity compensation principles, including stock options, RSUs, RSAs, ESPP, performance awards, and participant lifecycle events

  • Familiarity with administrative reporting needs in equity plan management - participant rosters, grant summaries, vesting schedules, transaction logs, tax withholding reports, and plan activity dashboards

  • Working knowledge of report design concepts - filters, parameters, grouping, sorting, drill-down, scheduled delivery, and export formatting

  • Ability to engage credibly with engineering on data models, query logic, and report rendering considerations

  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar backlog management tools
