Job description
- Assess, analyze, and document clinical workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary care environments
- Translate clinical and operational requirements into technical specifications for reporting, analytics, and data extraction solutions
- Design, develop, test, optimize, troubleshoot, and maintain Cerner Command Language (CCL) scripts within Cerner Millennium environments
- Perform complex data extraction, validation, reconciliation, and migration activities using Cerner Millennium Oracle schemas
- Support enterprise-wide EHR migration, reporting, modernization, and legacy retirement initiatives
- Develop and maintain ETL processes, structured data feeds, and flat file extracts
- Troubleshoot downstream integration, reporting, and performance-related issues
- Execute and tune CCL scripts, batch jobs, and production support processes
- Collaborate with clinical informatics teams, governance bodies, and technical stakeholders to ensure accurate implementation of clinical intent
- Communicate technical constraints, dependencies, and data limitations to non-technical stakeholders
- Analyze business objectives, workflows, and operational procedures to identify automation and system improvement opportunities
- Conduct system analysis, feasibility studies, and cost/benefit evaluations
- Review system capabilities, specifications, and scheduling limitations for requested enhancements or modifications
- Prepare detailed documentation for user requirements, program functions, and development processes
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations
- Experience supporting large-scale EHR implementations, migrations, optimization, and modernization initiatives
Requirements
- Advanced hands-on experience with Cerner Command Language (CCL)
- Strong working knowledge of Cerner Millennium architecture and Oracle databases
- Experience translating clinical requirements into technical and data specifications
- Expertise in SQL, Linux, and enterprise data extraction and migration patterns
- Experience designing, developing, and supporting ETL processes
- Familiarity with healthcare integrations, reporting platforms, and analytics environments
- Experience with REST and SOA development
- Knowledge of distributed systems, networking, and performance tuning
- Experience writing, executing, optimizing, and supporting CCL scripts in production environments
- Strong background in data extraction, system integration, and technical code development
- Working knowledge of Java, C, C++, Python, Perl, or OCI
- Experience supporting services on public cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, GCP, or OCI
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills
- Experience supporting Cerner Millennium production environments
- Previous experience serving as a Senior Cerner Consultant or Technical Lead
- Healthcare informatics and enterprise reporting experience
- Experience supporting EHR legacy system retirement initiatives
