AbbVie Information Security is looking for a highly motivated,diligent,andskillfulSite Reliability Engineerto join theCyber SecurityEngineering(CSE) Team. TheCSE Team,workingwithin the Cyber Security Operations (CSO) function,is responsible fordesigning, deploying,maintaining, and optimizing the tool setsin use by the Information Security teams.Join us asaSite ReliabilityEngineer,Cyber Security Engineeringtosupport and improve our efforts to defendagainst adversaries and help our business continue to have remarkable impacts on peoples lives.

This position can be remote anywhere in the U.S.

TheSeniorSite Reliability Engineer willbe responsible forensuring production systems in use by the Security Teams operatesmoothly,withinuptimeobjectives, andupdated with the latest content and functionality.The SRE, coordinating with developers,willmonitorthepulse of system performance and capacity,proactively recommending and implementing changes while automatingtoil andrepetitive tasks.

The CSE teamoperatesin a hybrid environment, supporting andmaintainingelements of our tools in a hybrid of bothon-premiseand cloud-native environments.The ideal candidate should have experience in both virtualized environments as well asmicroservices, andbe able to harmonize the architecture as needed.GitOpsis atthe core of our operations, and as we grow, our git footprint grows with us.

Responsibilities:

  • Architectnew and existing systems to enhance performance, reliability, and scalability

  • Build,implement, iterate overCI/CDpipelines

  • Assist with the Management, Development, Design, and Deployment ofmicroserviceandcontainerized applications

  • Implement strong security controls in distributed systems/agents

  • Coordinate with engineers and developersto automate deployments and configurations across various platforms

  • Abstract the complexity of Observability implementation by writing scalable automation

  • Identifyopportunities for improvement around observability and process

  • Standardization and developmentof alerts/notificationsand response tomonitoring tools

  • Work alongside application teams to implement Observability in day-to-day operations

  • Contribute to post-mortems and provideroot cause analysisand implementation of resulting action items

  • Promote DevOps best-practices within the team

  • Participate and promote Agile/Scrum

  • Contribute tohybrid cloud production containerization service offering

  • Designand implementstandards, policies, and proceduresfor automation andintegrations

  • Working alongside application subject matter experts, learn our toolsets and suggest/implement new features to streamline operations

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree with 7 years experience; Masters Degree with 6 years experience PhD with 2 years experience.
  • Treat best practices for security as a requirement, not an afterthought
  • Knowledge of Cloud Platform administration(AWS, GCP, Azure)
  • Familiarity with Observability pillars
  • Experience in working in high-scale environmentsand understanding of distributed architectures
  • Knowledgeof Agile / DevOps methodologies
  • Experience withCI/CD tools(GithubActions, Bamboo, Jenkins, Azure DevOps)
  • Familiarity withrunning docker workloadsusingorchestration tools (Kubernetes/AmazonECS) Abilityto workbothindependently without directionand withina groupfor day-to-day activities
  • Passion forlearning new concepts and processes quickly, and adapting to a changing environment
  • Comfortable working inand administeringLinuxand Windows environments

Preferred:

  • Exposure and implementation of SPIRE/SPIFFE

  • Direct experience with Terraform/Crossplane

  • Proficiencyworking with development tools and scripting languages (git / mercurial / subversion; Python /Elixir/ Go)

  • Integrating MCP Servers with authorization controls

  • Knowledge of database management systems (NoSQL, Relational Databases, and associated query languages)

  • AWSCloud Practitioner/ AzureAZ-900Certification

  • Deep experience in implementation and design of serverless architecture solutions

  • Demonstratedexperience in deployment of containerized applications (Kubernetes,etc)

  • Experience with datamanagementand pipelinetechnologies(Apache Storm, Kafka, Flink, Spark, Hadoop,etc)

  • Prior experience working in an Agile team

  • Solid understanding of observability solutions usingOpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana or similar application

  • Excellent understanding of distributed system architectures and telemetry

  • Excellent Experience in Deploying and managing large Kubernetes Distributed Platforms

  • ProficiencyinGitOpspractices and Infrastructure as Code systems (such as Terraform,ArgoCD, Helm)
