Job description

Senior Software Engineer As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of complex development initiatives that modernize and transform our customer care platform. You will lead the design and implementation of scalable, cloud-native solutions across the front end and back end while mentoring team members and driving best practices.

About Customer Engagement Services:

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, Care Centers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

This role does not support immigration sponsorship (hosting of H-1B Visas, etc.) at this time.

What you'll do:

  • Lead development of full stack features, from user interfaces to backend services, ensuring scalability, performance, and reliability.
  • Translate product requirements into robust technical designs and implementation plans.
  • Build advanced and reusable ReactJS components and high-performance web applications using Redux, TypeScript, NodeJS, and related technologies.
  • Architect and implement backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and REST APIs, following best practices in distributed systems.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, staff engineers, product managers, and QA engineers to ensure technical alignment and successful delivery.
  • Drive code quality through code reviews, mentoring, and best practices in unit testing, integration testing, and CI/CD.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues and guide root cause analysis.
  • Help steer platform modernization and migration efforts, ensuring seamless transition from legacy systems to modern architectures.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in full stack software development.

  • Expertise in ReactJS, Redux, TypeScript, ES6, NodeJS, and front-end performance optimization.

  • Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs for robust and secure communication between frontend and backend systems.

  • Strong hold on Node.js for server-side JavaScript and associated backend development.

  • Cloud experience (preferably Azure) and deep understanding of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).

  • Solid grounding in data structures, algorithms, and software architecture.

  • Proven track record of leading technical initiatives, mentoring engineers, and driving continuous improvement.

  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes., * Expertise with, training in, and/or exposure to AI (Artificial Intelligence) powered technology such as Agentic AI, Generative AI, etc., Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

It will meet or exceed the requirements of paid sick leave laws, where applicable., The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00 - $234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
