Senior, Software Engineer - Backend

Position Summary... Focusing on customer, associate and business needs, the International Store Operations team is responsible for maintaining inventory management over 4000 stores across 8 countries., Join Walmart Global Tech as a Senior Software Engineer - Backend to build and enhance scalable systems that power seamless digital experiences for millions of customers worldwide. You will work across diverse systems and domains, contributing to the design and development of critical backend services supporting Walmart's digital ecosystem, from checkout and fulfillment to user engagement journeys.

What You'll Do:

• Architect, design, and develop scalable backend services and APIs to support complex digital experiences.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across domains, including product, frontend, data, and UX teams, to design solutions that enhance the customer journey.

• Lead technical initiatives, including solution architecture, performance tuning, and system scalability enhancements. Drive end-to-end technical strategy and execution for the team, providing leadership in solution architecture, optimizing system performance, and advancing scalability to support business growth.

• Optimize application performance and ensure high code quality.

• Mentor junior engineers and drive knowledge sharing within the team.

• Advocate for best practices in services architecture, security, and testing.

• Implement and maintain secure, high-performance, and fault-tolerant distributed systems.

• Develop reusable frameworks and components for backend service integrations.

• Maintain high code quality through automated testing, continuous integration, and code reviews.

• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across complex services.

• Build scalable and reliable systems that handle large volumes of traffic and data.

• Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while following engineering best practices.

• Debug and troubleshoot issues in distributed systems across environments.

• Contribute to performance optimization, security improvements, and system resilience.

• Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers., We use a hybrid way of working that is primarily in office coupled with virtual when not onsite. • 6 to 9 years of total experience of which 5+ years in Backend engineering platform development.

• 5+ years of experience in Java technologies, Distributed systems and large-scale application development and design.

• Hands on experience Spring Boot, REST, Kafka, Cassandra.

• Experience with containerization technology and Microservices

• Well versed in CI/CD, DevOps practices, and monitoring tools.

• Work with Java, Multithreading, Data Structures, Algorithm, Design Patterns and develop robust high- performance and scalable applications.

• Strong adherence to SLDC process and Scrum/agile methodologies, Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area. Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
