Job description
As an IT Operations Architect, you will take on a key technical leadership role, shaping and evolving our enterprise IT operations landscape. You will bridge strategic vision with hands-on technical execution, ensuring that our infrastructure, platforms, and operational processes are scalable, resilient, secure, and closely aligned with business needs.
This role is ideal for someone who has grown from a strong hands-on background in infrastructure and engineering and now wants to design and drive modern IT operations for a growing company.
YOUR TASKS
- Define and own the IT Operations architecture roadmap across infrastructure, cloud, networking, monitoring, and service management platforms; evaluate IT processes and develop reference architectures, standards, and guardrails.
- Assist in assembling and approving the IT budget; generate and maintain KPIs for the IT team.
- Define and lead IT project management from formulation and initiation through execution and reporting to senior leadership.
- Manage AI platforms and implement AI solutions into IT workflows; evaluate emerging technologies and provide build-vs-buy recommendations.
- Design and implement hybrid/multi-cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP) as well as container platforms (Kubernetes, EKS, AKS, GKE) and workload orchestration.
- Design and enforce network segmentation, VPN, SD-WAN, and zero-trust network access (ZTNA) models.
- Drive automation of patching, provisioning, compliance checks, and incident response runbooks; lead capacity planning, performance tuning, and bottleneck analysis.
- Conduct hands-on root cause analysis (RCA) for major incidents and drive permanent fixes.
- Implement security controls aligned with NIST, CIS Benchmarks, ISO 27001, and SOC 2; ensure operational compliance through policy-as-code tools (e.g., Open Policy Agent, AWS Config, Azure Policy).
- Lead architecture review boards and govern infrastructure design decisions; mentor and coach senior engineers and architects and conduct technical design reviews.
- Partner with application development, security, and business teams to align operational capabilities with product delivery; serve as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure and operational issues.
- Translate business requirements into technical architecture and operational models, and produce and maintain high-quality architecture documentation and runbooks.
- Lead AI adoption and integration of AI into IT processes
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in IT infrastructure and operations, including at least 3 years in an architecture or principal engineer role.
- Proven expertise in IT server administration across Windows and Linux environments.
- Deep hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), including administration, hardening, and cost management.
- Strong networking knowledge, including DNS, BGP, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with ITIL-based IT service management processes (incident, change, problem, and capacity management).
- Working knowledge of security concepts such as zero-trust, IAM, and relevant compliance frameworks.
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken; German is a plus, * Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect Professional, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, or ITIL 4 Managing Professional.
- Experience with FinOps practices and cloud cost optimization.
- Familiarity with AI platform administration and ML-driven operations.
Benefits & conditions
- A structured onboarding phase with experienced colleagues
- Flexible working hours and a family-friendly environment
- Permanent employment contract
- A great working atmosphere in an enthusiastic international team with flat hierarchies
