Job description

Hybrid Ideal 2-3x a week or as needed in either Frisco, TX, San Diego, CA, San Mateo, CA, Boston, MA or Washington, DC

Our client seeks an Infrastructure Engineer to operate, maintain, and improve enterprise infrastructure across on-premises datacenters and cloud environments. The role will support core services, virtualization, storage, and identity while advancing automation, scalability, and security. You will execute buildouts, optimize performance, and ensure high availability through proactive monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management. Your work will enable stable platforms for critical workloads in AWS and Azure., * Design, deploy, and improve infrastructure for site buildouts, expansions, and core enterprise services including AD, Azure AD, and M365.

  • Implement and operate virtualization, compute, storage, backup, and disaster recovery systems.
  • Contribute to capacity planning, performance optimization, and security improvements.
  • Automate and streamline operations using scripting and configuration management tools.
  • Document systems and contribute to technical projects and implementations.
  • Operate and support infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments including AWS and Azure.
  • Monitor system health and proactively resolve issues impacting performance and availability.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across systems, storage, and networking.
  • Provide escalation support and participate in on-call and escalations support.
  • Perform patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management of infrastructure systems.
  • Execute maintenance and support backup validation and disaster recovery readiness.
  • Perform system tuning, optimization, and vulnerability remediation.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of configurations and operational procedures.

Requirements

Due to client requirements, applicants must be willing and able to work on a w2 basis. For our w2 consultants, we offer a great benefits package that includes Medical, Dental, and Vision benefits, 401k with company matching, and life insurance., * Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 4 to 6 years of experience supporting infrastructure and systems in a production environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Windows Server, Active Directory (on-prem and Azure AD), and virtualization platforms such as VMware, Nutanix, or Hyper-V.
  • Experience supporting Linux systems such as RHEL or Ubuntu.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise storage, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Experience operating workloads in AWS and/or Azure environments.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using PowerShell, Python, or Bash; familiarity with Infrastructure as Code or configuration management tools is a plus.
  • Experience with system monitoring, patching, and lifecycle management with ability to troubleshoot across systems, infrastructure, and basic networking.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills with ability to manage multiple priorities in a process-oriented, change-controlled environment.
  • Experience supporting site buildouts or infrastructure expansions (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or Ansible (preferred).
  • Experience with monitoring or observability platforms (preferred).
  • Experience in high-availability or mission-critical environments (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, VMware, AWS, or Azure (preferred).

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant certifications: Microsoft, VMware, AWS, or Azure.
