JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Chief Information Officer and Director of Technology Services, the Senior SIS & Data Information Administrator oversees the architectural integrity, security, and optimization of the District's Student Information System (PowerSchool). This role serves as the primary architect for state/federal data compliance and the lead technical liaison for data integration across the District's digital ecosystem with our student information system., * Core SIS Management: Serve as the lead administrator for PowerSchool, PowerTeacher Pro, and associated modules, ensuring high availability, system security, and optimal performance.
- Development & Customization: Design, develop, and test custom PowerSchool pages, object reports, and advanced SQL queries to extend system functionality and meet District-specific needs.
- Updates & Quality Assurance: Maintain a dedicated test environment to vet new releases and program updates; plan and execute deployment timelines to minimize disruption to school operations.
- Integrations & SSOs: Architect and maintain data integrations, API connections, and Single Sign-On (SSO) configurations between the SIS and third-party platforms (LMS, Assessment tools, etc.)
II. Data Governance & Compliance
- State & Federal Reporting: Act as the primary authority for all mandated student data reporting; ensure the timely and accurate submission of local, state, and federal datasets.
- Data Integrity & Auditing: Develop and monitor automated data-validation routines to identify anomalies; conduct regular audits of student records, attendance, and grading to ensure compliance with District policy.
- Strategic Analytics: Compile and visualize data from various sources to support district-wide decision-making, accreditation reporting, and student performance analysis.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation regarding system configurations, custom scripts, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
III. Academic Operations & Support
- Master Scheduling Support: Provide technical leadership and troubleshooting for school-site master scheduling, including course catalog builds, section loading, and timeline management.
- Advanced Technical Support: Serve as the Tier 2/3 escalation point for Information Technology, resolving complex user issues, customization requests, and system bugs.
- Vendor Liaison: Manage relationships with software vendors and contractors to resolve technical issues and evaluate the impact of new software projects on existing infrastructure.
IV. Professional Development & Training
- Capacity Building: Create and deliver comprehensive training programs and technical manuals for administrators, faculty, and staff on the efficient use of student information systems.
- Policy Alignment: Collaborate with District leadership to align PowerSchool configurations and parameters with evolving academic policies and grading regulations.
V. General Responsibilities
- Confidentiality: Maintain strict data privacy and confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and District policies.
- Adaptive Support: Perform other data-related duties and special projects as assigned by the Chief Information Officer or Superintendent.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in CS, IT, or Data Analytics or equivalent work experience (required).
Experience
3+ years managing PowerSchool SIS specifically. 2+ years of Database Administration.
Technical Stack
Must Have: Advanced SQL, HTML/CSS, and JavaScript.
Preferred
Experience with PowerSchool API/Scribe, PowerQuery, or Oracle APEX.
Soft Skills
Ability to translate "Technical-Speak" into "Educator-Speak."
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing.
- Requires fine finger dexterity to use office equipment and office technology; visual perception for interacting with computer screens for prolonged periods of time is required
- Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.
- May experience constant interruptions, inflexible deadlines, and changes to normal routines; ability to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet production deadlines; ability to use problem-solving and analytical skills to identify concerns and solutions with data, software, and procedures; must complete a high volume of computer use and input a high volume of data with speed and accuracy, including confidential data.
- Ability to communicate and coordinate with a diverse range of personnel (e.g. support staff, administrators, co-workers); must maintain strict confidentiality.
- May be required to occasionally work a flexible schedule with some evenings during high demand times
