Job description
Strategic Technology Consulting (STC), an Arcfield Company, is seeking a UI/UX Software Engineer to design and develop intuitive, mission-focused user interfaces for advanced tactical edge systems. This role will focus on translating complex PNT, NAVWAR, RF, and system-health data into clear, actionable visualizations that operators can understand quickly in high-pressure environments. The engineer will design modern graphical interfaces that support capabilities such as spoofing and jamming awareness, PACE status and fallback logic, real-time RF spectrum visualization, sensor availability, system alerts, and navigation confidence indicators. The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in UI/UX design, front-end software development, human-machine interface design, tactical or defense systems, and cross-platform interface architectures.
Responsibilities:
- Visualize the Tactical Edge: Design and develop the user interfaces that display NAVWAR situational awareness, PNT health, and system status directly to expeditionary operators
- Build for Portability: Architect a modern, decoupled UI framework (e.g., React/Typescript, Qt/QML, or Android/ATAK plugins) that can be easily ported across various military hardware hosts, ranging from low-power tablets to integrated platform displays
- Ingest Live Data Firehoses: Write the frontend software that efficiently consumes high-rate, asynchronous data streams
- Modernize Military Standards: Implement DOD interface and symbology standards (like MIL-STD-2525) while advocating for and executing a modern, consumer-grade user experience
Requirements
- BS 8-10, MS 6-8, PhD 3-5 (Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field)
- Experience in UI/UX software development, with a strong portfolio of building responsive, data-heavy applications
- Expertise in modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, TypeScript) or cross-platform embedded UI tools (e.g., modern Qt/C++)
- Demonstrated experience handling live, high-frequency data streams within a UI
- Deep passion for user-centric design, specifically minimizing cognitive load for users in high-stress, operational environments
- Familiarity with military UI/UX standards, including MIL-STD-2525 symbology
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance.
