Job description

Provide a single point of contact for all district staff to resolve problems relating to computer- and communications-related services. Responsible for phone support, technology issue evaluation, and distribution of technology-related work orders. Perform administrative duties related to the daily operation of technology department office and provide clerical services to the director of information services and other staff., 1. Prepare correspondence, memorandums, forms, manuals, requisitions, reports, and presentations for the director and technology department staff.

  1. Receive and process work orders and requests for emergency service.
  2. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required including technology data and work orders.
  3. Set up and maintain secure convenience files on all department employees in accordance with state, federal, and district requirements.

Technical Support

  1. Process technology-related work orders and assign priority to work orders. Evaluate and recommend technology-related repairs and costs. Arrange for contract repairs for work that cannot be performed by district staff.
  2. Analyze and identify trends in issue reporting and devise preventative solutions.

Phones

  1. Answer incoming calls, take messages, and route them to appropriate staff. Handle questions and requests falling within level of responsibility.

Accounting

  1. Perform routine bookkeeping tasks and maintain department budget records in an accurate manner.
  2. Order office supplies for department. Prepare purchase orders and payment authorizations as directed.
  3. Compile and report time records, including leave requests and reports, and prepare payroll on department employees.

Other

  1. Welcome all visitors and handle their requests or refer them to appropriate personnel. Maintain effective rapport with general public and handle any problems or concerns in a prompt and courteous manner.
  2. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy.
  3. Maintain confidentiality of information.
  4. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills: Broad knowledge of computer hardware and software applications Knowledge of various operating systems (UNIX, DOS, Windows, Macintosh) Knowledge of software used to develop spreadsheets, databases, and do word processing Ability to detect and resolve technical or technology-related problems Knowledge of correct English usage, grammar, spelling and punctuation Basic math skills Effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Experience: 3 years secretarial experience, preferably in public education environment
