Job description
The Senior Architect, API Platforms is responsible for defining and leading the enterprise API strategy, architecture, and governance framework across the organization. This role will lead the design, implementation, and evolution of APIs and integration solutions using the MuleSoft Anypoint Platform and other modern API management platforms.
The architect will drive the adoption of API-led connectivity, reusable integration patterns, and secure, scalable API ecosystems that enable digital products, data sharing, and enterprise integration across cloud, SaaS, and on-premise systems. This role works closely with application development, data engineering, cloud, and security teams to ensure APIs are designed as enterprise products that accelerate innovation, improve interoperability, and support digital transformation initiatives.

(required) Experience with DevOps pipelines and automated API testing frameworks. (preferred) 7 years: Deep expertise in MuleSoft Anypoint Platform architecture and implementation. (required) Strong knowledge of API security standards and identity protocols. (preferred) 10 years: Hands-on experience integrating SaaS platforms, enterprise systems, and cloud services. (required) Strong experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, distributed systems (preferred) 5 years: 5+ years working with enterprise API platforms, including MuleSoft or comparable API management platforms. (preferred) 10 years: 10+ years of experience in software architecture, integration architecture, or API architecture. (required)
Benefits & conditions
This role is based in our Washington, DC office. A reasonable rate of base compensation for this position is $150,000-160,000 per year. ACS employees work a hybrid schedule, consisting of working onsite two days per work week, as decided by functional area. The balance of the week is open to working remotely, though employees are always welcome onsite each day if they choose.
