Job description
SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for the design, development, and support of electric heating systems and components used in ASPEQ products. This role focuses on delivering safe, reliable, and manufacturable electric heat solutions while partnering closely with sales, manufacturing, R&D, and suppliers to meet customer and regulatory requirements.
What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)
Engineering Design & Documentation

Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for electric heating products.

Prepare detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, and wiring schematics using 3D CAD software.

Create and maintain bills of material (BOMs), routings, and manufacturing instructions.

Manage and document engineering changes and design modifications throughout the product lifecycle.
Sales & Customer Support

Provide technical support to the sales team during preparation of customer quotes.

Translate customer requirements into compliant, manufacturable electric heating solutions.
Manufacturing & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner with manufacturing engineers to develop and optimize manufacturing processes for electric heat products.

Support design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives.

Collaborate with R&D on product enhancements, new designs, and process improvement projects.
Supplier & Compliance Support

Work with suppliers and vendors to source materials and components.

Ensure designs comply with applicable safety and regulatory standards including UL, CSA, and ETL.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Required Experience
- 1-3 years of mechanical engineering experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and/or AutoCAD.

Knowledge of electric heating systems and manufacturing processes (machining, welding, CNC punch, CNC laser).

Understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.

Strong problem-solving, analytical, and project management skills.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work in cross-functional teams.
Physical Demands & Working Environment

Ability to work in both office and manufacturing environments.

Ability to lift up to 30 lbs for component handling, inspections, or testing.

Exposure to production equipment, noise, and manufacturing operations typical of an electric heat production environment.
