Job description

Job Duties: Gather requirements, analyze existing processes or applications, and design mainframe solutions that meet business needs. Design, develop, code, and test mainframe applications using COBOL language. Provide ongoing maintenance and support for production systems, troubleshooting issues, and applying fixes or enhancements as needed. Create, modify, and optimize queries using DB2. Develop and support batch processing jobs using JCL. Work closely with business analysts, testers, quality assurance (QA) teams, and other developers to deliver integrated solutions. Prepare and update technical documentation, process flows, and code comments. Use strong knowledge in mainframe technologies (COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS) for integration with client interfaces. Design, code, test, and maintain backend services, exposing APIs and collaborating with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and enterprise tools. Implement and support REST APIs via z/OS Connect for modern integration needs. Ensure system reliability, scalability, and compliance with regulations. Utilize JIRA, Zephyr, and Confluence for Agile project tracking, test case management, and documentation. Collaborate with business analysts, testers, and client stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with program requirements. Document technical processes, workflows, and system changes for audit and compliance purposes. Develop and execute unit, integration, and regression test cases. Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and resolve defects in coordination with QA teams. Provide production support for client systems, troubleshooting issues and implementing fixes. Monitor system performance and optimize batch jobs and online transactions. Use of COBOL, PL1, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, IMS DB/DC, SQL, File-AID, CHANGEMAN, SPUFI, Control-M, JIRA, Rally, ServiceNow, and z/OS.

Requirements

Position requires 2 years of experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and z/OS., Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign academic equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field. Plus 2 years of experience in the job offered or a related occupation including Cobol Consultant, Project Lead, Software Engineer, Programmer Analyst, or related experience. Will accept 3 years of post-secondary education plus 3 years of related experience in lieu of the required education and experience. Position requires 2 years of experience with COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, and z/OS. Will accept any suitable combination of education, training, or experience as per the requirements cited herein. 40hrs/week.
