Job description
The Senior Systems Engineer delivers first-class, hands-on technical support to end-users,
including the Executive Team at the Houston Corporate Office. This role combines deep
infrastructure expertise with day-to-day end-user support, strong analytical and problem-solving
skills, and a proactive approach to continuously improving the SEI technology environment. The
right candidate is equally comfortable resolving a support ticket and architecting a system
improvement - no task is beneath them, and no challenge is too complex.
Essential Functions
Desktop & End-User Support
- Provide direct day-to-day technical support to end-users - hardware, software, M365,
connectivity, and peripheral issues
- Serve as the senior escalation point for complex issues, resolving tickets with urgency and
clear documentation
- Deliver a consistent, first-class technology experience for all end-users including the
Executive Team
- Manage printers, MFPs, monitors, docking stations, and peripherals
- Own onboarding and offboarding technology execution - account provisioning, device setup, and
hardware recovery
- Maintain a high first-contact resolution standard and contribute to an IT knowledgebase
Microsoft 365 & Cloud Productivity
- Administer the full M365 tenant: Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, OneDrive, Intune, Entra ID,
Defender, and Purview
- Manage licensing, conditional access, MFA, and data governance policies
- Administer Teams governance, meeting policies, calling features, and external federation
On-Premises Infrastructure
- Administer Windows Server environments: Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and file
services
- Manage the Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure platform - cluster health, high availability,
and resource optimization
- Administer the Cisco Meraki environment - MX appliances, MS switching, MR wireless, and SD-WAN
via Dashboard
- Maintain patching cadence and change control discipline across infrastructure layers
Backup & Disaster Recovery
- Manage enterprise backup platforms with tested, documented recovery procedures aligned to
defined RTO and RPO targets
- Conduct regular DR testing and maintain M365 data protection with verified recovery capability
Endpoint Lifecycle & Deployment
- Own the full device lifecycle - imaging, deployment, Intune/Autopilot configuration, and
hardware refresh
- Deliver device setup with zero-friction, same-day readiness as a standard of excellence for
every new hire
Cybersecurity
- Administer Sophos EDR/XDR - endpoint detection, response, and threat monitoring
- Manage email security, identity controls, patch compliance, and vulnerability management
- Support SOX IT controls, access reviews, and audit evidence gathering
- Maintain security documentation and contribute to the IT risk register
AV Systems & Microsoft Teams Rooms
Meeting spaces must be ready and reliable - every time.
- Administer and proactively monitor Microsoft Teams Rooms (MTR) across all conference and
collaboration spaces
- Manage Logitech hardware (Rally Bar series, Tap, Scribe) - firmware, policy via Teams Pro
Management portal, and peripheral health
- Conduct proactive room checks and pre-meeting validation to prevent issues before they occur
- Develop standardized room configurations and runbooks for new site deployments
Continuous Improvement & Technology Advisory
- Conduct periodic reviews of the full technology stack and deliver written recommendations with
business case justification
- Identify and eliminate technical debt proactively - prioritized by risk and business impact
- Stay current with vendor roadmaps and translate relevant developments into actionable proposals
for leadership
- Partner with the SVP of IT to maintain a forward-looking infrastructure roadmap aligned to SEI's
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive experience in systems/infrastructure engineering in a corporate IT
environment
- Expert-level Microsoft 365 administration: Entra ID, Exchange, Intune, Teams, SharePoint,
Defender, Purview
- Windows Server administration: AD, GPO, DNS, DHCP, file services
- Nutanix HCI platform administration
- Cisco Meraki administration: Dashboard, MX, MS, MR, and SD-WAN
- Microsoft Teams Rooms with Logitech hardware: Rally Bar series, Tap, Scribe
- Sophos EDR/XDR administration
- Endpoint management via Intune and Windows Autopilot
- Enterprise backup and recovery platforms, including DR testing and documentation
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to build credibility and trust across all
levels of the organization
Preferred Qualifications
- Microsoft certifications: MS-102, AZ-104, or equivalent
- Cisco Meraki certifications: CMNA or higher
- Sophos Certified Engineer or equivalent
- Experience supporting a publicly traded company (SOX exposure a plus)
- Familiarity with ITIL service management practices
- Experience with SolarWinds Service Desk or similar ITSM platforms
