Aquila Technology is seeking a highly skilled Remote Solutions Architect t o join our team in supporting one of the country's premier defense research organizations. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt to the needs of a growing and evolving team and be flexible, motivated, and capable of quickly learning new technologies to meet mission requirements.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a desire for continuous learning, strong collaboration skills, and the ability to establish themselves as a critical contributor within a high-performing team., * Proven experience provisioning, maintaining, and optimizing high-availability server and network infrastructure supporting mission-critical environments.

  • Strong systems administration and infrastructure engineering skills across Linux/Windows servers, virtualization, networking, storage, and enterprise security practices.
  • Hands-on expertise in troubleshooting complex server, network, and performance issues while maintaining operational stability and uptime.
  • Experience implementing secure configurations, monitoring solutions, backup and recovery procedures, patch management, and system hardening aligned with government and enterprise standards.
  • A strong automation mindset with experience using scripting, configuration management, CI/CD pipelines, and container orchestration technologies to improve efficiency, consistency, and reliability.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with project managers, engineers, and developers through Agile workflows, sprint reviews, and continuous operational support.
  • A proactive approach to infrastructure monitoring, capacity planning, incident response, and identifying opportunities for operational improvement.
  • Adaptability and a fast-learning mindset that allows me to quickly understand new technologies, evolving requirements, and mission priorities.
  • Strong communication, documentation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform effectively in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.
  • A genuine passion for technical challenges, continuous learning, and contributing as a dependable and collaborative team member supporting critical government missions.

Must Have:

  • 5 years Scripting and Task Automation (e.g. server installation, patch management, configuration)
  • 2 years Network Architecture
  • 2 years Network Experience (e.g. routing, switching and TCP/IP protocol)
  • 5 years Programming/scripting languages (Python, bash, Perl, Go)
  • 2 years Software Architecture
  • 2 years Network and Cloud Computing Security
  • Excellent Problem Solving
  • Strong Verbal and Written Communication
  • Work Well Independently as well as with a Team
  • 2 years DevSecOps environments (Github, Jfrog, Jenkins, GitLab, Fortify, Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • 2 years Exposure to automation tools (BigFix, Terraform, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, CfEngine)
  • 5 years Ubuntu/Linux
  • 2 years Containers & Orchestration (OpenShift, Docker, Kubernetes)
  • 5 years Diagnose and Troubleshoot Issues

Benefits & conditions

PTO - 15 days (vacation/sick) 10 paid holidays - 6 standard (New Year's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas) - 4 floating holidays prorated based on your day of hire:

  • 1.5 paid days, or 12 hours, for approved volunteer work
  • 1 week of paid maternity/paternity LOA after 1 year of Full-time employment

Tuition & Training Reimbursement- 5K annually for pre-approved, Eligible full-time team members who have completed a minimum ofsix (6) monthsof employment may apply for tuition reimbursement for approved, job-related courses taken through an accredited college or university. Team members must achieve a grade of "B" or better to qualify for reimbursement.Aquila will reimburse up to $5,000 per fiscal year for tuition expenses only. Expenses related to training programs, certifications, books, materials, meals, transportation, or other non-tuition costs are not eligible under the Tuition Reimbursement Program. All tuition reimbursement requests must be submitted to and approved by the team member's Manager prior to course registration. Reimbursement will be issued upon successful course completion and submission of final grades and proof of payment.

401K with Fidelity - Eligible to participate following 90 days of employment. Company match on employee contribution:

  • $1/$1 up to 3%, then .50 cents / $1 for 4th and 5th %s
  • Fully vested from day one
  • Company match does not apply to catch-up contribution

Cell Phone & Internet Reimbursedup to $150 monthly to cover cell phone, data, and home internet expenses. Aquila Technology will reimburse team members who work from home ONLY for cell phone/mobile device fees for work-related communications and/or operations each month. Employees eligible for this benefit must work remote 2 days a week or more to qualify.

Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) -Team members are eligible for reimbursement of up to $1,500 every three (3) years for the purchase of electronic equipment used to access corporate services. To qualify for this benefit, employees must have completed a minimum of six (6) months of employment and must agree to and sign the Device Minimum Configuration Form prior to reimbursement. Electronic devices eligible under the Buy Your Own Device (BYOD) program are limited to cell phones, laptops, and tablets.

Work location: Hybrid - Individual works from home or off-site for a portion of their schedule and within a routinely commutable distance from the Lexington, MA facility. Candidates should expect to be onsite 3 days a week on average.

Interview process: Initial pre-screen with the hiring manager. If the candidate advances to the next round, interviews will be with the Organizational Leaders and Technical Team.

Travel: Travel may be required, estimated 1 trip quarterly, 1-2 days in duration to sites or sponsor sites.

Clearance Level:Must be able to obtain a Active Secret Clearance. Must be US Citizen to be considered
