Job description

  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, providing technical support to end-users and other IT staff.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for network solutions, configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Plan and execute network and virtualization projects, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget and quality standards.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting network incidents, providing root cause analysis and documenting information in ticketing system (ServiceNow) and knowledge repositories (MS SharePoint).
  • Willing to work nights for network Change Request (CR) implementations and be a part of the on-call rotation for any network incidents that may be escalated from the Network Operations Security Center (NOSC) for nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Establish effective working relationships with industry vendors to ensure alignment of current and future set requirements.

Requirements

Versar Global Solutions, on behalf of the DHS Homeland Security Enterprise Network (HSEN) Engineering Support Services Contract, is seeking a Network Engineer to support ongoing support to the DHS OneNet engineering and network architecture. This candidate should have a demonstrated track record in designing, implementing, and managing complex network infrastructures to include both physical and virtual. The candidate must be adept at troubleshooting and optimizing for network performance to ensure seamless operations.

This candidate should be able to support a variety of network technologies to include, but not limited to, Cisco routing/switching, F5 GTM/LTM load-balancing, Palo Alto firewalls, and Cisco SD-WAN. The ideal candidate will be able to support solution designs and implementations, technology refresh projects, cloud integrations and migration projects, and tier 3 and 4 level incident management troubleshooting., * BA / BS (relevant field); relevant IT experience may be a substitute for education.

  • At least 4 years of explicit network engineering experience
  • Strong knowledge of routing protocols (e.g., BGP, EIGRP, OSPF) and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, GRE, IPSEC, and VRF)
  • Experience creating/writing design documentation, diagrams and other project artifact deliverables.
  • Must be resourceful in learning a very complex and dynamically changing network.
  • Must live in the national capital area (DC, NOVA, MD) within 50 miles approximately.
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Certifications Desired

  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
  • CCNPE
  • Security+

Software/Hardware Desired

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Applications (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams)
  • Experience with creating network diagrams in MS Visio

Benefits & conditions

Expected Salary: $100,000 - $115,000 per year
