Job description
In this role, you will design, automate, and operate Kubernetes-based platforms that support mission-critical applications. You'll work closely with engineers across infrastructure, application, and data teams to improve reliability, scalability, and developer productivity while helping shape the future of the organization's platform ecosystem., * Design, build, and operate production-grade Kubernetes platforms (self-managed or managed services).
- Own Kubernetes internals including:
- Workload scheduling and autoscaling
- RBAC and security controls
- Network policies
- Helm, Kustomize, and Operators
- Build and maintain self-service developer platforms and golden-path templates on Kubernetes.
- Implement and support CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD, or Flux (GitOps).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform and Ansible.
- Manage container image pipelines and registries (Docker).
- Operate workloads in public cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including:
- Networking
- IAM
- Cost optimization
- Implement and support observability solutions , including:
- Metrics (Prometheus, Grafana)
- Logging (ELK / OpenSearch)
- Distributed tracing
- Work with service mesh and API gateway technologies (e.g., Istio, Linkerd).
- Participate in Agile delivery using Scrum or Kanban .
- Collaborate across teams to resolve technical blockers and reduce platform risk.
- Mentor engineers and contribute to platform design decisions and best practices.
Requirements
- Microservices architecture
- RESTful APIs
- Event-driven design patterns
- Containerize and deploy Java applications to Kubernetes.
- Tune JVM performance for containerized environments.
- Experience with build and quality tooling (Maven or Gradle, unit and integration testing, static analysis).
Nice to Have (Event Streaming)
- Experience with Apache Kafka , including:
- Topic and consumer group design
- Offset management
- Schema evolution (Avro or Protobuf)
- Familiarity operating Kafka on Kubernetes (e.g., Strimzi or enterprise distributions).
- Exposure to stream processing frameworks such as Kafka Streams, Apache Flink, or Spark Structured Streaming.
Experience Requirements:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience designing and operating production Kubernetes environments .
- 2+ years supporting workloads on a public cloud platform.
- Proven experience building enterprise-scale DevOps or platform engineering solutions .
- Strong technical design, troubleshooting, and analytical skills.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Education Requirements:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Rate: $65 - $70 / hr. w2, Skills, experience, and other compensable factors will be considered when determining pay rate. The pay range provided in this posting reflects a W2 hourly rate; other employment options may be available that may result in pay outside of the provided range.
