Job description

In this role, you will help modernize and strengthen database platforms that support critical business operations-enabling scalable, secure, and reliable applications.

You'll join a collaborative engineering environment where innovative thinking and problem-solving are encouraged. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to both day-to-day operations and long-term strategy for large-scale database systems., As a Senior Database Administrator, you will play a key role in managing and evolving complex database environments in a fast-paced, agile setting. You will work closely with engineering and product teams to support production systems, improve performance, and drive automation.

This is a hands-on role spanning database administration, performance optimization, reliability engineering, and technical mentorship.

What You'll Do

  • Support and enhance Oracle (primary), PostgreSQL, and SQL Server environments across development and production
  • Perform database maintenance, lifecycle management, migrations, upgrades, and automation
  • Drive performance tuning and optimization, including indexing strategies, workload analysis, and capacity planning
  • Partner on patching and change management, including scheduled after-hours and weekend maintenance
  • Troubleshoot production issues end-to-end and implement long-term fixes to prevent recurrence
  • Support high availability and disaster recovery, including failover readiness and validation
  • Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation, including weekends, as scheduled
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, runbooks, and operational best practices
  • Mentor and support junior team members through coaching and technical guidance
  • Contribute to strategic planning and continuous improvement, including automation and standardization efforts

Requirements

  • 12+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience
  • Including RAC (Real Application Clusters), ASM, and Data Guard
  • Experience across development and production DBA responsibilities, including upgrades, migrations, patching, monitoring, and backup/recovery
  • Proficiency with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) and GoldenGate
  • Advanced SQL and PL/SQL skills with a focus on performance tuning
  • Knowledge of database security practices, including access control, auditing, and compliance
  • Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Shell, Perl, PowerShell)
  • Experience supporting high-availability and disaster recovery environments
  • Experience with ETL/data movement processes for large datasets
  • Familiarity with collaboration and delivery tools such as Jira, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket, Remedy, and Microsoft Teams
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD tooling (e.g., GitHub, GitHub Actions)
  • Strong technical documentation skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Willingness to support after-hours and weekend work aligned to operational needs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PostgreSQL administration (on-prem and/or cloud environments)
  • Experience with SQL Server administration and performance tuning
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools such as Foglight
  • Experience designing enterprise solutions for backup, monitoring, alerting, and security compliance
  • Background in highly regulated industries (e.g., financial services)
  • Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification
  • Proven experience mentoring team members and contributing to team standards
  • Experience leveraging automation or AI tools for process improvement
