Job description
The Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) National Team Program is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS). Join a passionate and highly-motivated team at the forefront of national defense., * Support the implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of enterprise network infrastructure.
- Ensure reliable connectivity across LAN/WAN environments while collaborating with senior engineers on network design and optimization.
- Configure and maintain network devices including routers, switches, and firewalls from vendors such as Cisco and Juniper Networks.
- Monitor network performance and availability, proactively identifying and resolving connectivity, latency, and packet loss issues.
- Implement and support core networking technologies including VLANs, routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP), and basic network security controls.
- Troubleshoot network incidents across LAN/WAN environments, performing root cause analysis and documenting resolutions.
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams to support network changes, upgrades, and infrastructure projects.
- Travel to remote locations to lead and perform network installations, independently perform troubleshooting, and provide status updates to Program personnel.
- Support critical activities outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
Requirements
- Generally has 3 years of related experience and may have a post-secondary degree or training in a related discipline.
- Must have an active Secret Security Clearance. Must be a US Citizen and have/maintain a valid US passport.
- IAT Level II 8570 Compliant Certification such as Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.
- CCNA or JNCIA certification
- Proven network engineer with hands-on mid-level experience and knowledge of network design, development, and testing methodologies.
- Understanding of the OSI Model, TCP/IP, routing protocols BGP and OSPF.
- Network traffic analysis, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
- Firewall experience - especially Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
- Experience in UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE Tunnels, and TCP/IP network designs.
- Hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizer, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment.
- Effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills using Microsoft Office products, especially PowerPoint and Visio.
- Prior work experience at client or in client's Industry

Preferred Skills & Qualifications
- Top Secret Clearance
- CCNP or JNCIP Certification
- Experience with network automation using Ansible
- Understanding of standard DOD security practices such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts.
